From FOX news online:
While Democrats led the opposition to drilling, three Democratic senators voted with the GOP majority: Sens. Daniel Akaka and Daniel Inouye of Hawaii and Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.
The seven Republicans who voted against drilling were Sens. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island; Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine; Mike DeWine of Ohio, John McCain of Arizona, Gordon Smith of Oregon and Norm Coleman of Minnesota.
These 7 Rinos and most of the Demo Rats apparently prefer to have the U.S. remain dependent on foreign oil. Perhaps they would also argue that drilling should be stopped in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Siberia, Mexico, Venezuela, etc., to protect the world's environment? The Demo Rats and 7 Rinos are either woefully ignorant of the facts, or they just oppose anything that might help the U.S. Maybe both?

"We have tried this before and the producers lost their butts."Wasn't that back during the malaise of the Peanut Farmer's maladministration? (the more I think back on it, the more I realize that Democrat administrations have ALL really sucked canal water!!!)

Yes, it was definitely canal water the Peanut Head President sucked.
I may be in a minority here, but I despise him more than I do Clinton. Clinton was a party animal, both with political parties and personal parties. Very shallow.
Carter was an America-hater from the day he was elected, and to my shame I voted for him in 1976.
I was doofus college kid rebelling against my Republican parents.

Judging by your unlucky screen name, you probably didn't think too much of the Ronald Reagan administration and judging by your comment, you especially didn't care for his Interior Secretary, James Watt, right?
Are you a proud subservient property owner in CA's newest government "stewards" private land-locking called the Sierra-Nevada CONservancy?

Not that you need my absolution, but I forgive you anyway!
But I will NEVER forgive that bastard, Jimmy Carter!
I would be living next to a beautiful reservoir if it weren't for him, with a beautiful bridge eliminating the longest 6 miles on the planet from my daily commute!!!
What a gold-plated prick!!!

Since the first barrel has flowed through the AP it has mainly emptied into the tankers off the California coast. This has been known since the pipelie began pumping.
Your query makes no sense, however.
Asia has never had to kow-tow to the Arab princes because they have received their oil from dupes.

My query makes sense because your assertion that 82% of Alaskan crude goes to Asia after first transiting to Long Beach is ridiculous bullshit.
To: Dog Gone
An Exxon/Mobil officieal has stated that most of the oil that comes out of OUR ALASKAN PIPELINE, gets shipped to Japan and other Asian nations because the haul is shorter and the price is higher, thus a greater profit.

I also know, the vast majority of oil in Alaska goes to Japan and does not even come to the US even with the high prices we cannot help ourselves.
State your proofs please!
With over 40 years in Alaska, this is news to me! Also the feds own more of Alaska than they ever should in these latter days... the compact with the USA and Alaska was to have much more land shifted out of Federal possession in fifty years from statehood inception ...and it's not going to happen either.
To: Badray
Party line Crossers:
Dems:
Landrieu, Akaka and Inouye voted NO
Reps:
Chafee, Coleman, McCain, and Snowe voted Yea
Hoeffle would have voted against the drilling.
To: JesseHousman
Exxon's share of Alaskan crude might be shipped to Japan. I don't know. The vast majority of Alaskan oil gets shipped to the west coast refineries.
And I'm sorry if my language offended you, but Texans know BS when we see it, and you were shoveling it as fact. I think you're the one who needs sleep.
To: Issaquahking
It's not news to you. It's completely false. I see this assertion made at Freerepublic about once a year. I don't know who made up this fantasy; probably some leftist loser that wants to argue that more Alaskan crude is a bad thing.
No intelligent person should fall for it because it's absolutely not true and never will be.
To: edcoil
"Here in California you cannot due to government regulations so, while I support opening up to drilling if the oil can come here, we need to build refineries as well."
We all know California is over regulated to the hilt, but it's not the only place in the world where we can refine.
I say we do it in a way that unionized labor can't get a hold of the process.

The more oil they drill for, the more ways they will find to waste it.
No amount will ever be enough for them.
To: Portnoy
Wow...cheap gas is on the way now! Gonna need a crowbar to get that tongue out of your cheek?
To: BladeLWS
WHOO HOO....let the drilling commence. Stick it in the eye of the middle east.
