If it were in court and there was a question of what type of oak it was, yes, I would want the proper scientific name put down in the court records. Just as, if it were in court and there was a question of what stage of human development the victim was in, I would want it specified as a "fetus", not "Connor".

Just as things have different connotations in religious and secular contexts, they do so in legan and lay contexts as well. Of course it would be proper to have a "baby" shower, but it would not be proper for this victim to be referred to as a "baby" in the court proceedings. He was not. He was a fetus.
