Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt said yesterday that any attempt to negate the existence of the State of Israel is a form of anti-Semitism.
Verhofstadt differentiated between legitimate criticism of Israeli policy and anti-Semitism, stressing that he was convinced that the political decisions taken by the European Union are not motived by anti-Semitism. He added, however, that "when you're tackling and directly criticizing Israel or the Jewish community, that's anti-Semitism."
Verhofstadt, who participated in yesterday's inauguration ceremony for the new Holocaust museum in Jerusalem, added that the Law of Return forms "the basic idea of the foundation of the State of Israel."

What about denying Belgium's right to exist? Belgians will soon be a minority in their own homeland thanks to the efforts of this individual and others like them and for all practical purposes Belgium (or [insert your Western country here]) will cease to exist.
And that, ladies and germs, was my 2000th reply.

I'm thinking Van Gogh's murder has effected Europe far more that most realize (excepting France).

What about denying Belgium's right to exist? Yes...what about it? Israel defended itself 4 times against wars of aggression in the past 60 years. Belgium had to rely upon American soldiers to personally defend their nation twice in the last 70 years. So by what right do Belgians claim a "state" they cannot even defend?

What's sad is this needs to be stated.

A nice statement, but I'd feel more hopeful if he said it in Belgium than in Jerusalem.
He may not have wanted to get booed too loudly on the road, but let's hear him say it fromhis home arena.
