Some white students at a South Jersey Catholic school walked out of classes Tuesday in protest over a speech by the New Jersey Secretary of State Regina Thomas.
Tensions have been building up at Paul VI High School since Thomas' speech on racial justice last week.

I love the freepers. I feel it is my duty as a Black conservative woman to educated those who allow themselves to live in a box with blinders on and never come out of their comfort zone. Most people don't really KNOW (not in the biblical sense) anyone outside of their race. But if everyone bothered to try we would find we have more in common than we think. We all want to contribute something to this world and country. We want our children to prosper and get an education. We want to love and worship God. We are the same people with different experiences.

The original comment about "blacks use the color of their skin to gain advantage" was not referring to middle-class blacks who work hard and play by the rules.
It was a short hand for the poverty pimps like Jesse Jackson and his disciple of 12 years, Regena L. Thomas, the main subject in this story.
Sometimes this Internet format creates misunderstandings. I've been guilty of misreading other posters' intentions several times.

"This is the new McCarthism - no longer are you a Communist - YOU ARE A RACIST - because I SAY SO!"
Which is ironic since the real racists are the ones making the accusations.

I would completely support the point. I have nothing against anyone, (unless you attack me, my country, or are here illegally). My point is the comments stepped across the line. Being singled out because of color or race. It can happen anywhere, to anyone, depending on your location. I can match any experience they may have had.

Some people don't think that people who aren't black don't experience damaging racism/discrimination. Of course, you know that's not true.

Discrimmination is making a difference in treament of others on a basis othe than indiviual merit. I prefer the original meaning: ..making a difference in treatment of others on the basis of perceived behavior or personal qualities (good or bad).

"They don't know what it is like to open up your locker and see a KKK letter there. It's not the most comfortable feeling at all," said African-American student Kristen Minoh. Shes right, I dont. But Im willing to bet shes never been threatened with violence and robbery by a group of black teens on a public bus, or had racial slurs and beer bottles thrown at her by a carload of black teens, or been shot at from a carload of chicanos. I have, and I get offended when some kid tries to make a federal case out of a cowardly juvenile stunt. There's a big difference between a snotty little note and real violence, but don't expect "The Media" to report that.

"For 12 years, she worked for the National Rainbow Coalition and its founder, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, during his historic bids for the presidency in 1984 and 1988."
Well that says it all.
I hope she gets called on the carpet for this racially inflamatory speech.

Judging by Odoso's other posts, I don't think I am misreading what he/she is trying to say. But thank you for talking me down off the ledge.

They should cough up the crumpled KKK note so police can dust it for fingerprints. Announcing this should scare any potential punks and rookie provocateurs.

I agree with you. I have a lot of different experiences myself and have met people from different backgrounds and try to relate those experiences as much as possible to people.

Sobering problems, to be sure.
Wish there were a simple solution, but I'm afraid racism comes in large part from "breeding" practices: Here the NJ Secretary of State, a "professional" responsible for how the state runs its business and businesses is accusing youngsters (who do not practice racism themselves, but SHE accuses them of being racist simply because of their own skin color (white) and religion (Catholic) and economic status (able to afford private Catholic schools).
But, because the speaker is a liberal (first!) black (third!) woman (second!), she can claim anything she wants to, and the liberal establishment applauds her lies.
---
Racism? I saw it first hand at Prairie View A&M in 1973. AS one of only 6 white students on campus during the summer that several "blackspotation" movies came out. Certainly felt like an Indian standing in the middle of the shootout at the OK Corral!

You are an extremely brave FReeper, being white and living near Gary; the murder capital of America.
I live downstate...casinos won't lure me there.
Funny how the MSM never mentions the average white guy's bad experiences going into black neighborhoods. A reverse senario would lead their front page.
But hey, it doesn't happen, right?
Hate crimes not only happen against certain "annointed" groups, but to all of us.

I'm skeptical of this "KKK letter" claim.
Very, very skeptical.
Especially, if it was the "reason" for the racist, hate-filled screed by the Sec. of State.
