Sting operation by FBI- Press Conference just on FOX: 17 of 18 defendents arrested for attempting to purchase weapons from an undercover FBI agent. One wanted to buy uranium to make a nuclear device in a subway system. FBI spokesperson emphatically stated that did not come to fruition, but the suspect did ask the question.
FBI was not involving itself in the end user, the sting operation was focusing on the people who were attempting to purchase the weapons for further sale/distribution. FBI taped over 15,000 phone calls made by the men trying to purchase. Very Dangerous weaponry including: grenade launchers, shoulder fired missles, (russian) and others.

David Asman on FOX said something to the effect that the suspects were also looking for nuclear materials.

Yes...the comment was "wanted to buy uranium for some sort of nuclear device to be used in a subway..." But the spokesman said that never happened (the making of the device) but the "purchaser" did ask the question of the sting agent.

Y'all remember that this was a sting operation by the FBI. Terrorist who would do the same thing would be harder to catch.

Thanks. I wasn't sure of the exact quote, but I knew he had made a reference to something of a nuclear nature.

But remember the FBI said there are no cells working in the U.S. HUMMMMMMM, I wonder WHO they were going to sell this stuff to. Rather than find out they snatch this group before they found the cell. how convienent.

Thanx, OXEN...this is a very scary story to me. Much more frightening than the coverage of the MJ trial, DUH! I guess, since Jackon was out of the spotlight while all eyes were on the Atlanta situation and the church killings in Wisconson...they feel they have to be "fair and balanced" and treat us to more Jackson today. Ugh!

I suspect that is another aspect that is on-going by other agents and they are not talking about it now. This "sting" was just to try and get the people who were/wanted to purchase the weapons.

"One wanted to buy uranium to make a nuclear device in a subway system."Must have been a homeless guy. Most folks make their nuclear devices in the basement, or garage.

"One wanted to buy uranium to make a nuclear device in a subway system." Should read: One wanted to buy uranium to make a nuclear device TO USE in a subway system.

But remember the FBI said there are no cells working in the U.S IIRC, they said they couldn't find any cells working in the U.S. Not the same thing at all.
