STRASBURG, Va. - A police chief was ordered held without bail Monday on charges of driving drunk twice in one day. Middletown Police Chief Roger Ashley has been held in jail since his arrest Saturday. An April 11 trial was scheduled after a court appearance Monday.
Ashley was arrested the first time in his unmarked police car and a second time, five hours later, in his personal vehicle, Strasburg Police Chief Marshall Robinson said.
Officers responded to the first arrest after Robinson's car had run into a vehicle on Route 11 in this northern Virginia community.
Robinson was arrested a second time in his personal vehicle, police said.
Robinson's status as chief of Middletown was to be reviewed by town leaders later Monday.
Was he carrying a gun while drinking and driving and, if so, was he charged with it? I think a regular citizen would be.
This is a good example of what "judge not unless ye be judged" means. It does not mean DON'T JUDGE, It means that we will be held to the same standards we hold others to!
Hey, I watch TV. No detective ever solves a crime without first stopping off for a few drinks, preferably at a strip bar, followed by an argument and fistfight with his partner.
Not a whole lot goes on in Strasburg, I'd give him a pass. /sarc
It's not unusual for police officers, or people in any profession, to cover for one another.
"alleged" drinking problem
That had to be nerve-racking for the chief. He probably had a couple of beers to help him stay calm.
Hmm, I don't know?!?
It seems that he has no problem drinking - his problem is driving.

And I thought my weekend was bad...
