Texans arraigned in North Dakota on illegal aliens charge

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) Two Texas residents have been arraigned here on a charge of conspiring to import illegal aliens.

Shan Wei Yu, 51, of McKinney, Texas, and An Dong Cen, 35, of Houston, are accused of conspiring with the help of others to recruit more than 50 illegal aliens in Texas to work in Asian restaurants in the Dakotas, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio, U.S. Attorney Drew Wrigley said Monday.

Yu also is charged with money laundering conspiracy.

``Local (immigration) agents uncovered what appears to be a criminal employment organization that was based in Texas but reached all the way up to Grand Forks,'' said Michael Mach, chief agent in the Grand Forks office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ``We cracked the organization open here, and now believe it's been pulled up by the roots.''

Authorities said the investigation began last August, when border patrol agents apprehended two illegal aliens near Grand Forks who had been working at the Buffet House restaurant in the city but had left because of long hours and low pay.

Agents eventually arrested five illegal aliens and restaurant owner Yun Di Lu and Hong Peng, who both pleaded guilty late last year to harboring illegal aliens. Both have served four-month prison sentences and are in the process of being deported.

``These unscrupulous business owners kept illegal employees in virtual indentured servitude, while they reaped the financial rewards of a popular restaurant,'' Mach said.

Yu and Cen face an April 18 trial date in U.S. District Court in Grand Forks

This has been going on for YEARS. I know personally of Chinese hiring illegal aliens to cook in their Chinese Food restaurants and have known about it for YEARS. They also help other Chinese get the workers and/or use the workers in their chain of restaurants. The government can bite me. I am sick of the lack of action on illegal immigration. Stupid idiots.

This is merely a literal drop in the bucket. The government knows how widespread the problem is and does little or nothing about it. Now, after YEARS of this, so many businesses are dependent upon illegal labor that a massive purge would cause economic problems (see Malaysia).

Oh, forgot to mention, this is going on over SEVERAL states to my knowledge. What a joke. The foreigners come over here, flaunt our laws, become filthy rich and then tell us what to do and think. Stupid government.

Most of America is sick of it, but few in Washington care. I'm watching Lou Dobbs, and he just had a clip of idiot Doris Meissner (former INS commissioner) telling America that "it's impossible to police the border". Government officials, past or present, who say things like that only encourage more invasion. Tar and feathers is too good for Doris.

I wouldn't think they'd have to hunt very hard for illegals, we've got plenty of them here in Texas!

The government has been letting this go on for years. I remember when Tyson Foods placed ads in the local newspaper in the early 1990s. The ads blatantly stated that the employee did not have to speak English. This newspaper is only 10 miles from Mexico. One month the ad would be for a chicken processing plant in Arkansas, the next month it would be for Alabama and so on.

So they caught 5 illegal aliens. Big deal.

Well, I guess we could build a picket fence out of old broken hockey sticks since we have no other use for them right now.

I see that they mow the lawn over there.

As a service of the government (fully supported by those Canadian tax dollars), all Canadians are entitled to have their lawns mowed twice a year. This service is provided by a little publicized arm of the Dominion government called 'Give a Frog a Job' which was created soley as patronage to keep Quebec from voting independance.

There are some benefits to an 80% tax rate after all.... < /tongueincheek>

INSIDE the INS office in Omaha, Ne, they advertise for people to work in the beef processing plants, complete with telephone number and point of contact at the plant. Can't imagine that plant has been raided lately. Guess the INS feels like they have merged with the Department odf Labor huh?

I'll bet that picture wasn't even taken by an American. Do you think the guy was "thrill-seeking" by dashing over the border to snap the shot quickly before he was nabbed by all those guards? Taking his life in his own hands, he is.
