I'd like to know where the 100,000 dead Iraqis figure keeps coming from.
It's nothing more than a hegemonic lie.
"I'd like to know where the 100,000 dead Iraqis figure keeps coming from."
I don't know where it comes from, but I find a strange comfort in it. It means there have been no more Iraqis deaths since the original invasion because that is the figure that has been used since then.
Those are the victims of Saddam through the years that the libs are trying to pin on Bush. Don`t you know? Everything is Bushs fault. The holocaust? That`s Bushs fault. The war of 1812? That`s Bushs fault. The meteor that killed the dinosaurs? That`s Bushs fault.
The 100,000 figure comes from some neurotic lefty org (can't remember name) that just took a poll of Iraqis asking if they knew anyone who had been killed. They did not bother with the obvious necessity of cross-checking to make sure that they weren't counting the same people over and over. If they bother with that, the figure is more like 15,000.
Of course, before the war they were all quoting the UN prediction that the war would kill 500,000 Iraqis. I wonder why they didn't just go ahead and say that's what happened. It wouldn't be any less truthful than the one they're using.
