Dallas billboard asks: 'Why Islam?'

The way to religious tolerance is through a billboard - or at least that's the idea behind a display for tens of thousands of commuters in North Dallas each day.

It's not a question a lot of people ask themselves on the way to work. But there it is, hanging above westbound LBJ Freeway near Webb Chapel: "Why Islam?"

The sign also offers a Web site address and a toll-free phone number in New Jersey.

"When the call comes in, it transfers to the team of volunteers," said Adnan Fyed of the Islamic Circle of North America. "And those volunteers they will call you back and they pick up the phone at the same time."

"Why Islam?" is a program run by the Islamic Circle of North America to educate anyone who wants to know about the religion. The website offers information on Allah, pilgramages and even audio lectures.

Visitors can also watch a slide show on Ramadan, and are invited to visit a mosque. There's even a chatroom.

"If you go and become a member of the forum, you can go and ask whatever questions you have," Fyed said.

With so many hostile ideas out there, the effort aims to help provide the truth about the religion.

The packed parking lot for Friday services at the Islamic Center of Irving shows how much the faith is growing in North Texas. Now with the hotline and the website, members of the community hope to get out the word concerning what Islam is all about.

Not this Moral Equivalence BS again...

Let's see if I can make this obvious, even to you...Show me where Christ commanded his followers to kill those who decided not follow him....Now show me where in the Koran it states to slay those who are considered infidels....

Take the time to understand that although the Christian religion has been used in many ways to commit atrocities, the dictates of the religion do not support the actions of those who did. That is why there was a reformation. Many understood that their religion was hijacked to serve an evil purpose. Many died to overcome that evil.

You will be hard pressed to see a reformation in Islam for one simple fact; the Jihadist are doing what their holy book commands. A reformation in Islam will require the rewriting of the text it is founded upon.

Do you not see the connection? If you do not, please explain why over 90% of the conflicts occurring on the face earth today involve followers of Islam? Explain why over 2,000,000 people have been killed in Africa at the hands of followers of Islam? Explain why Islam is at war with any culture, religion, or nation that refuses to adopt it?

How can we let it happen????

Marguerite, over the years, the Mosque's just silently moved in. They are here, the good, the bad and the ugly and I really believe it is too late to shoo them out. Here is my account of a Fox documentary I watched last year:

This border issue is unreal.

Fox News did a documentary interviewing a Border Patrol man and his wife (last year), who live in a trailer right on this side of the fence. They are BEGGING for our government to send help down to them, ANY kind of help. Even if is our National Guards.

Night after night, the Border patrol and his wife wearing night goggles take pictures for proof. Thousands are coming across in hordes. And that IS night after night. Fox News even showed the video tapes that the Border and his wife have been taking of these people jumping the fence and running.

The Fox Newsman (I forget his name. He has the gray hair, is tall, thin with a long thin face), spent the night with this couple, also using night goggles to watch for himself.

The next morning, they walked about the yard. She said that they are NOT all Mexican's. That they have found the books of the Koran and prayer rugs dropped in haste as the people jumped the fence and ran on into our Country.

She showed the rugs and the books to the Fox Newsman. It was horrifying.

What with all the Mosque's in our Country, what better shelter for the terrorists to find shelter? They are here, people. Scattered all over the United States.

"In his written testimony, Admiral Loy cited recent information from investigations and detentions as the basis for his concern about the Mexican border.
