GEN-BALKAN-COMMISSIONER-BILDT UN Commissioner to Balkan calls for recognizing Islam as European culture

By Yaseen Rawashdeh SARAJEVO, March 12 (KUNA) -- UN Commissioner to the Balkans Carl Bildt on Saturday called for recognizing Islam as part of the European culture, asserting that Muslims in Balkan formed a unique and positive factor in European affairs.

In a statement on the Balkan Convention for Development and Cooperation, which took place in Macedonia, Bildt told KUNA that Muslims in the Balkans, especially in Bosnia and Kosovo, proved that they are characterized with tolerance and cooperation with other societies, noting that they were victims of the others, not visa versa.

Bildt, who is the former UN commissioner for Bosnia and former Sweden's prime minister, said the war in Bosnia proved that Muslims were victims and did not practice revenge based upon religion or ethnicity, which reinforces the fundamentals of their religious culture that prevents such practices.

The official expressed dissatisfaction at the thoughts promoting doubts toward European Muslims or the thoughts that Islam is an abnormal religion in Europe, stressing that cultural and religious pluralisms are the main components of all European societies and there is no single European country occupied by the followers of only one religion or ethnicity.

The official demanded the developing of the Balkans as a whole, calling for accepting all the region's countries together in the EU to prevent any issues or conflicts that might be generated by keeping some Balkan countries outside the EU.

Bildt also called for more conferences and meetings between Balkan countries and EU representatives, and called for including the region in joint transportation and economic development projects.

Major political officials and social figures from 12 southeastern Europe countries and EU representatives held a number of meetings during the past two days in Macedonia to discuss development and cooperation issues in the Balkans.

So this Nimrod thinks that Bosnian Croats and Kosovo Serbs have been burning down their own Christian Churchs and cutting off the heads of their fellow Croats and Serbs?

Actually, the guy is pretty much on the mark when he says "Muslims in the Balkans, especially in Bosnia and Kosovo, proved that they are characterized with tolerance and cooperation with other societies" provided those "societies" consist of Nazis.

I think the word goes beyond collaboration into "active participation".

The Nazis found many of their most ardent death camp killers among the Moslems in the Balkans!

Bullshit! *

Shall we ask the non-muslim historical residents of the Balkans what their take is on the "positive" influence of islam?

You can find Mr Bildt's blog (in English) on:

http://bildt.blogspot.com

There he spouts his multilateralist, Europhile, statist, anti-Israeli (or worse) views.

Unfortunately you have to have a blog of your own on "blogspot" to be able to make comments.

No they haven't. This site lists all the Croatian Catholic churches & religious sites that have been destroyed or damaged. Follow the links and it tells you who did the damage. You may be surprised at the identity of the biggest burners of Christian churches in the Balkans.

Reading a book by "Mark Gabriel" (not his real name) a convert from being a Islamic professor to Christianity. "Islam and Terrorism: is a good quick read. He says the Koran teaches them to be adaptable to situations where they cannot win and thus be perceived as "tolerant". There are 3 situations true muslims face:

1. muslims in extreme minority - they do what they have to survive and get along, work politically and slowly build strength

2. muslims have an effective minority but still unable to achieve islamic society - get outside help to prepare for attack

3. muslims in majority - total war against unbelievers - conversion by force

Depending on the situation true muslims may appear more tolerant. And of course there are many customary muslims who are clueless about what their religion actually teaches and may be tolerant towards us as well. But they are not true to the teachings of the Koran, i.e. Sura 9:5. "Fight and slay the pagans whereever you find them and seize them, beleaguer them and lie in wait for them in every strategem (of war) ..."

The revelations from Gabriel to Muhammed changed over time also. :-) When Muhammed was in the minority in Mecca years his revelations spoke of love and peace. When he moved to Medina and became a warrior personally leading 27 plundering missions, the revelations suddenly changed to jihad because that was who he became in those later years. Muslim scholars regard the later passages as overriding the earlier ones or come up with various explanations for the contradictions.

Thus people can find peace and love in Koran. However, many of those passages are obsolete. Explanation? I've heard at least one theory is that Allah changed his mind. :-)

Also the "Noble Koran" adds commentary in parantheses to assist the reader which is quite a hoot.

The irony of it all is that the Balkans is where the expansion of Ottomanism was stopped to prevent the Ottomanization of Western Europe, yet, it's the Western Europeans who are attempting to recognize this latest historical high-jacking job.

They never learn...

Well, some of them do, but they're powerless because of their idiotic leaders. I'm in Spain right now and people I have spoken to are indeed freaked out about the left's love of Islam and adoration of Morocco. Actually, I never discuss politics here - these are random people who, as soon as they know I'm an American, want to tell me how worried they are about the future since Zapatero took over and has been kissing the feet of the French and the Moroccans ever since.
