Rice pointedly declined to rule out running for president in 2008 on Friday during an hour-long interview with reporters at WASHINGTON TIMES, top sources tell DRUDGE. Rice gave her most detailed explanation of a 'mildly pro-choice' stance on abortion, she would not want the government 'forcing its views' on abortion... She explained that she is libertarian on the issue, adding: 'I have been concerned about a government role'... Developing late Friday for Saturday cycles... MORE...
And Bush got 57% overall in the actual vote in Tenn, so the poll was wrong.
The official definition is ludicrous.
I think racial electioneering is an exceptionally poor way to attempt to advance good in our country.
Your opinion of the definition matters not. Metro is the official government of Nashville/Davidson county. If you want to include Williamson, Rutherford, etc. then you are really talking about a vicinity...not a Metro.
Words mean things. Try it sometime. sheesh
I saw that he had posted it earlier - I thought he was being sarcastic. Now, I think he really believes it. Some people have lost all perspective.
Wow, and you aren't even mathematically able. Post 1179 is correct and would give you a 57% overall based on the population of the groups involved.
By the way, the rural counties in Middle Tenn used to be solidly Dem, while solidly white. Now the rural counties there are about even (and still lightly populated and not demographically significant), with the suburban and exurban formerly lightly populated Dem counties surrounding Davidson, now much more populated, and swamping Davidson, heavily GOP, and making the Nashville metro area now about 57-58% Bush. It is those counties, Williamson, Rutherford, etc, about eight of them, that is the coup de grace to the Dem party in Tenn all things being equal.
I though I saw a figure that Bush got but 56% of the white vote in Tenn. That is clearly wrong.
That post was a total mess and made no sense whatsoever. Davidson county is Dem...big time. Always will be. It's the seat of the city, county and state government. It went for Kerry.
THAT is Metro. And we Williamson county folks WILL NOT be slandered by being called a part of Metro. And ALL of these counties "were" solidly Dem...every single county in the entire South was pre-1980 on.
Again, you are defining Metro in your own way and I refuse to acknowledge that definition. Moot point.
Close enough...I've seen exit polls showing anywhere from 58-65% of the white vote in Tenn.
Shouldn't your screen name be "Rino Wildcat"?
OK. Rant on. Davidson went for Nixon in 1960, 1968, 1972 (maybe for Ike too) and I don't think went Dem again until Carter. What happened? The metro area spilled out, and middle Tenn became more and more about the Nashville metro area, and less and less about the remaining rural counties outside that orbit.
You tell them...!
You and I know these people are not "conservative" by any stretch of the imagination. I will fight their RINO ideas wherever I find them!
Howlin - Saying shameful things since 7-1-1999...
Thanks for alerting me to #990, L2L!
Protagoras, Spot on. :-)
I know it would thrill people to no end to be a racist for a day. Voting for the FIRST black female President would mean the world to them and especially if she was a Republican fiscally and well, a LIBERAL socially. LIBERALtarians have many flaws and abortion is one MAJOR flaw. I find it more disgusting that Condi, a FEMALE possess this heartless flaw. No, she will not have my vote and I will do nothing to see her elected.
Condi believes that, like me, govt doesn't belong in the abortion issue. She has obviously thought this issue through, unlike others.
Love your home page...you have Howlin and her ilk nailed...
