How can one not know that one's license to drive has been suspended? Isn't that a bit like leaving the house without shoes, on and then being pulled over for being barefoot, only to be astonished at the lack of shoes?

Seems a little extreme for a suspended license. Geez, about a third of the people driving around our dusty little central valley town don't even have licenses.

I guess you've never kept a car in New York.
Once we received a threatening summons for an unpaid parking fine. We called and a clerk explained that the ticket had "probably blown off the windshield." She suggested that in the future we call periodically to check on citations.

Driving around Central Park near midnight without Jon-boy.....hmmmmm
Mourning the loss of the Orange Gates?
Trolling?
Just left Rather's penthouse?
Refused to watch her husband on Comedy Central at 11 PM, evidently.
Where was Jon? Inquiring minds don't want to know......

My mom was arrested for overdue library fines that weren't paid when she was pulled over for a speeding ticket. My brother and I were 10 and 12. It was very scary!

I had a suspended license once & didn't know it. I found out by getting pulled over for an illegal turn. Luckily, the officer let me go and I paid the fine.

I am not sure why you think her arrest is so funny. To have to go through all of that for an unpaid parking ticket? Come on now...I would be happy if they did that to the UN members as they have hundreds of unpaid tickets....but not to someone with one ticket. That is just ridiculous.

"she paid the ticket last week but the check hadn't been processed"
Since when does it take ANY government agency that long to process a check? Whatever.

Sounds a little excessive. If only they would arrest all the illegals driving around without ANY license, let alone suspended. But it seems they could have handled this different.

Don't jump to conclusions, this stuff does happen.... notifications of suspensions don't always get sent out or delivered properly.
