Terri Schiavo's Estranged Husband Gets $1 Million Offer to Not Kill Her

Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- A California businessman has offered Terri Schiavo's estranged husband $1 million to not starve her to death and to transfer legal guardianship for her to Terri's family.

Robert Herring, Sr., lives in San Diego and is the founder of WEALTHTV, a lifestyle and entertainment television channel. He also spent more than 30 years in the electronics industry as the founder and owner of HERCO Technology, which he later sold to a larger firm.

Herring contacted infamous attorney Gloria Allred to pay Michael Schiavo $1 million if he complies with Herring's request.

"After viewing video of Terri on television, I came to the belief that there was hope for her," Herring said in a statement Thursday. "As events have proceeded in the legal battle, it became clear to me that if something was not done for Terri, that all hope for her would be lost."

The money has been placed in a a trust account operated by Allred on Wednesday and the attorney sent a letter to Michael Thursday morning comunicating the offer.

There is no word on whether Michael will accept the offer. Should he do so, courts will still need to sign off on changing legal guardian ship for Terri.

Herring said he acted now because he is worried that Florida courts will not turn back on their decision to allow Michael to starve Terri to death next week.

"With a date of March 18th quickly approaching, and no other viable hope for Terri to be able to keep her feeding tube, I felt compelled to act," he said.

Allred confirmed Herring's rationale.

"It now appears that the court process is ending, and that the legislative process has failed to stop the removal of the feeding tube," she said.

"He recognizes that unless something is done immediately, Terri Schiavo is not likely to survive very long," Allred added. "Knowing that time is of the essence and realizing that he is fortunate enough to be able to help, he has decided to take action.".

Allred was the attorney for Amber Frey in the infamous Scott Peterson trial. Frey had an affair with Scott during the time he killed Laci and Conner Peterson.

He ought to go for it.

It IS part of why he wants her starved to death. The other part is IF she can recover, she may be able to tell them what REALLY happend ... and it was NO "chemical imbalance" - that's sheer crap.

I'll take a million dollars to not kill my wife.

Or best offer.

This man is putting his money where his mouth is. Hope Michael takes the offer, but I bet he doesn't.

God bless this wonderful man for his compassion and generosity.

It will be interesting to see if "the beast" bites on this one. No question he WANTS the money, however, he also has the fear of being found out as an attempted murderer if she lives and recovers enough.

I'm skeptical that he will indeed take the $. He wants to look like the good guy.

I'd need more than $1 million to talk to Gloria Allred.

ah, a new profit making scheme hits the market...

1) find a court system to give you permission to kill her
2) make a media spectacle about it
3) wait for the offer

before step 1 you may want to incapacitate her through some sort of "chemical imbalance".

Anyone know what's going on with the bill that Weldon presented? I got an e-mail that it was presented but haven't heard anything since. Is it going to a vote?

Thanks for post. The report about this generous fellow lifted my spirits. There are good guys out there; they just don't get the press. He's like Jim Hake, another tech millionaire who founded Spirit of America, a non-profit to send stuff for the Marines to distribute to Iraqis, funded in large part thru his own pocket. God Bless 'em.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1360417/posts?page=66#66 An attorney for Michael Schiavo said the offer won't be accepted. Attorney George Felos said Schiavo turned down a similar $10-million offer about two weeks ago made via an attorney for an anonymous Floridian.

"He wants to look like the good guy."

Too bad his efforts to this point are not working to that effect. (Except for the "judge" who has no judgement.)

I agree..he won't. Actually, he can't. That would be admitting that this whole thing was about money.

My bet is he rejects the offer, claiming that is "not what Terry would want".

He may possibly have ulterior motives, perhaps wanting her dead because of a massive beating he applied or botched murder. There is no statute of limitations on murder, so if she ever gets lucid again she might testify.

We'll see how he replies. He has already run off with another woman, so it's obvious he has his own best interests at heart, not Terry's...

"An attorney for Michael Schiavo said the offer won't be accepted. Attorney George Felos said Schiavo turned down a similar $10-million offer about two weeks ago made via an attorney for an anonymous Floridian."

So the fear of her talking and him going to prison supersedes his greed. I'd bet he also believes he is going to get away with legalized murder.
