This guy was not awaiting trial in jail. He was free to leave after the proceedings after every session. He was in street clothes, no cuffs. He was out on bond.
Local Fox reporter is now confirming the reports that he overpowered a deputy, shot him in the head and then forced another deputy to handcuff others. The reporter said that he interviewed a DA for this information.
The court reporter was also shot in the head.
I highly doubt that this guy will be taken alive.
IMO, the level of drama by the news people is directly proportional to the level of actual news coming out. This is a very dramatic story, but right now we have very little that is actually new. So, Greg (former Court TV reporter) must keep his own personal drama level very high.
New news low=news anchor drama level high
This is usually when they start asking very dumb, very repetitive questions, too.
