Fulton Co. Judge shot and killed in courthouse shooting (BREAKING Fri 9A)

This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

My guess is that the suspect drove to a remote area and killed himself with a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
Sort of like Mark Barton from a few years back.

I've made my point in several very explicit posts on this thread. It's right there for anybody to read.
Do a name search for my posts and you can read them all on one page.
You will see that I never suggested that anybody's death was "no big deal." Nor did I suggest anything at all about Barnes' successor.
Instead of ascribing "agendas" to me and warning me about some "dark place," try reading what I've actually stated.

ATTENTION FREEPERS:
I WAS ONLY BEING POLITE to BONAPARTE. I DO NOT AGREE WITH HIM. BY TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION, I MEANT SOMETIMES WE JUDGE TOO QUICKLY!!
(not yelling-talking over louspeaker)
Damn, it's like putting down the phone and saying "Why the hell did I answer it?" :-)

"...there's is nothing wrong in pointing out that laxity in dealing with dangerous animals is not wise."Did you hear that, don-o? I think it's called "common sense." It's what I've been talking about.

Show me where I said the judge's murder was not tragic or was justified.
I can't seem to find it.

Ignoring the truth or being PC lest some twitty feminist's feelings get hurt is foolish and dangerous I agree with you. A woman can't move as fast or with the strength of a man. But a Glock is a great equalizer and allows women to perform law enforcement tasks the same as men. I don't know this situation but after years and years of bringing the perps to the courtroom through the same corridor anyone, man or woman, can get lax.

That's 10 hours and Nichols is still at large. It's been almost 10 years since the Olympics bombing in Atlanta...

I read somewhere the deputy went in to uncuff him to let him get dressed. She went in the cell alone and that is not what is supposed to happen.
My guess from reading he was from a "good family" is that he had good manners when he needed to and was nice and the deputy went in and then got shot.
she is one lucky deputy to get a GSW to the head and survive.
And the reporter was smart not to get in the trunk. Everyone tells me that, let them shoot you in the street first. but don't get in the trunk or car with them.

Just so you'll know, I'm not accusing either one of you of thinking it's somehow a not-so-great evil if the judge was a liberal. I was just addressing the subject matter, since the subject of liberal judges came up and y'all were talking about it. I don't think the judge's political stripes should matter at all, was my point.

Ideas have consequences.
At 9 this morning, we saw what those consequences can be.

Howlin, I'm female and I'm not offended! I, too, have seen too many women do marginal jobs just because of physical limitations. Like I said before, I'd hate to think my PC desire for "equality" caused someone to lose their life!

This man could be anywhere right now. That is what is so scary. He is not going to go quietly.

Exactly- and by now...what's his adrenelin level? I expect it's settled down a good deal- now he may be thinking rather than reacting...

I have to ask?....are judges any more valuable then the rest of us? Listen.
As a person and a child of God, Rowland Barnes is no more and no less valuable than you or I.
As a judge, his murder is very significant and serious.
Striking down a judge and his employees in their courtroom is a blow against the entire judicial system and the society that keeps YOU safe.
Doesn't matter what beef you have with any individual judge or with the system, or that a particular offender escapes justice (because they do, always have, and always will. No human system is perfect.)
What matters is that this is a blow to the heart of society. So yes, in his position as a judge, he IS more important than you or I.

Killing the court reporter is utterly inexplicable. The role they play is completely neutral and most of them are as nice as can be to everybody.
Most of them are women, as well however. I suspect the killer may have a sick hatred of women.

Folks!
Let's settle down. Let's do what a good breaking news Freep thread used to do.
DISSEMINATE NEWS IN A REAL TIME FASHION AS RESPONSIBALY AS IS POSSIBLE.
Drop the flame wars, wild guesses, unsubstantiated speculation and just plain nonsense.
Up to 3,000 posts now and I'm sure 1,500 posts could have never been sent if we all used a little restraint.
If your tired, mad or whatever, just suck it up and post only when you have new information or have a comment directly relevant to what is going on right now.
Leave the junk to the MSM. They are experts at it!
