Good move. They will probably be dragged off the plane and put in jail, but if they play their cards right, they will get even more publicity out of it.

You wrote:
"Overthrow the mullahs yourselves instead of begging foreigners to do it."

They wrote:
"We all ask the leaders of the European Union (not to) support the regime in Iran. We don't ask nobody, no country, nor any power in the world to help us to change the regime. We can do it ourselves," he said.
Did you not read this?
I take 3 things from this statement;
1. Thank you President Bush for supporting us.
2. We will not let the EU & the rest of the world make you a villan again, for us.
3. There are those in the EU that WE KNOW are supporting the regime and they will do anything to make the U.S. look bad, so we are going to them directly so you won't have to. Thanks again President Bush.

I stand in awe and support of the Iranians standing for their freedom. President Bush said to the Iranian people: "When you stand for your freedom, America will stand with you."

I am amazed by some of the very uninfomed posts here.

In any event once the Belgium police moved the plane away from the cameras and the reporters, troopers stormed the plane and interestingly (taking a page from the mullahs' book) they separated the men from the women and children and put them on separate buses without view of outside and are taking them to an undisclosed location.

The last thing I heard is that there are international lawyers from Israel and Europe traveling to Belgium to help the demonstrators. I think this is positive.

I just heard all the protesters are freed and instructed to go home.

Methinks the EU does not want an international pro-democracy Iranian incident on its hands which draws attention towards the people. They want this incident to go away quietly.

Actually, I think once the U.S starts supporting the Iranian desire of a free/democratic country for real, the EU will stop its supports for the current regime.
Remember that EU does not want another clash with the USA over Iran.
And this is their last shot. Sit back and watch this summer. I am sure you will be happy to hear more news in this coming summer.

Xerxes:

"You need a Psychologist, for sure!

Xerxes, you need a psychologist with your hero worship of the Shah. Anyone proud of that tyrant needs to have his head examined. Would you actually advocate the bombing of your ancestral homeland by foreigners in order to remove its odious government? That sounds more self-serving than patriotic.

Nobody, the article said: "A group of passengers refused to leave the plane after it landed in Brussels earlier today and are demanding the European Union (news - web sites) remove the Islamic leaders from Iran (news - web sites).

It sounds like they're begging foreigners. Although they would probably have better luck with the US. They should have booked a flight to Washington.

F14 - I am more conservative than you. I do not advocate trespassing on the private property of others and interfering with the functioning of an airport just to make a point.

Any one who calls the Shah a tyrant is obviously a liberal or a leftist who watches CBS a lot.

Forgot to tell you that we, Iranians, will be so glad if you and likes of you stay away of our affairs.

Thanks!

Well, I am not conservative if you call yourself a conservative. But it takes a hundred light years for you to understand these people.

They have to act like this because the liberal media you watch and read do not pay attention to them! Therefore they have to do some thing like this to make others hear them better!

Why don't you ask a fellow Iranian what he thinks about the Shah?

I take it that you believe the ends justify the means. So how far are you willing to go? What happens when nothing comes of this stupid stunt, which will be completely forgotten in a week? Do you raise the bar and do something even more stupid - perhaps drain the fuel out of the plane before takeoff, or clog its toilet? The latter would be more appropriate considering how full of it they are.

These people would be more effective with public awareness campaigns, distributing pamphlets, buying ads in newspapers and magazines, and commercials on TV and radio. That's kind of how the rest of the civilized world lobbies the public. I'm sure Mr. Belgian Businessman is really going to appreciate missing his flight because some idiot Iranian group doesn't have the patience to do things the right way. This type of behavior is that of the vigilante. To endorse it indicates a lack of understanding of democracy. It is immature and self-centered. What if every group with an agenda pulled stunts like this? That would really be fantastic.

Any leader who is in the mid -east and pro-American is automatically villified as a puppet. After all according to this boxed vision of thinking - all mid-easters think the same.
