Is he being paid? He knows the universties and other groups will welcome him and he'll get lots of coverage in the media. But there have always been soldiers like him... Think of Kerry!

I understand that, at one point, the guy was a hostage.

Now, let's see... where's that picture...?

Google responds to hits versus the number requested, it is simple math. In the case of this man, he is tops in Goggle. Beware: he is due to be the next Left Anti-War Boy by this measure:

Ok time for a records check on this ahem Ex-Marine with PTSD. Is he real or is he a BX-Warrior?

It seems the left could be taking advantage of a soldier suffering from post-trumatic stress disorder to further their own political agenda.

Massey, of North Carolina, says he witnessed Marines shoot unarmed civilians at road checkpoints during the onset of the Iraq War in 2003. He says the acts amount to war crimes.

As far as I'm concerned - As an NCO, he had an obligation to stop it or, at a bare minimum, report it. I wonder if he did either.

Maybe he, like Kerry, is speaking for his own actions and attempting to drag the rest down with him?

Yawn. Okay, pretty soon we're going to get a better, more dramatic story out of this guy. You know, sort of like what Carlos Castenada's editors advised him to do with his stories. Punch it up.

I can hear it now: "Well, we were at this checkpoint and the guys were all laughing and cutting up. I think a couple of them, if not all of them had been drinking or doing one-hitters of hash. Anyway, here comes this minivan with a bunch of kids in it singing what sounded like 'Kum by Ya" in Arabic. Well, a couple of the guys started yelling "Towel heads! Kill 'em, kill 'em all, and let our Christian God sort them out." Really, it was just like Oliver Stone's Platoon where they wiped out that village and killed that retarded, I mean mentally challenged kid. I'm sorry, I get choked up and it's hard to talk. How much did you say that check was for? Because I mean, Columbia is paying me $20,000 to speak and I mean, we're in a fair market, here, right?

I'm starting to suspect that since most Americans now trust their own eyes as to the success of the war, people like this man will merely be preaching to the Bush haters. Folks who are open to this kind of thing will look at the results and, whether he's being truthful or not, figure that in the larger scheme of things this situation is working out, overall.

I see a couple dozen people on folding chairs watching this guy, and he realizes they look exactly like the last bunch he talked to...

Quote from last Friday's Post Standard:

"He tells of the time his unit was setting up a road checkpoint near Baghdad. The orders were to stop traffic from coming into the area the Marines were occupying.

Intelligence reports warned the Marines that enemy forces were donning civilian clothes and taking ambulances and police cars to use in suicide attacks, Massey recalled.

When a red, four-door Kia sedan wouldn't stop upon reaching the checkpoint, the Marines opened fire, hitting three of the car's occupants.

'That's the harshest one, Massey added. That's the one that sticks with me the most.' "

Here's a link to the whole Ramirez story:

I guess Massey doesn't feel that our soldiers manning checkpoints aren't supposed to safeguard against their getting blown up.

He was a Marine for 12 years, never having experienced combat until he arrived in Iraq two years ago. Makes you wonder how long he was there until he was classified with PTSD. It's one thing to not be able to handle the riggers of combat, but to come home and bad mouth your fellow Marines, well, that's nothing more than pulling a Kerry.

It would be nice if some of the Marines from his unit would speak out about this guy. He sounds like your usually shill that presents himself as a professional victim and the US as the evil monster. He is probably suffering from more than PTSD.

This guy was a Marine for 12 years, spent 3 months in Iraq and was honorably discharged? He was diagnosed with PTSD after 3 months in Iraq?
I know something about PTSD. The military does a lot better job in dealing with PTSD today than they did 30 years ago. I smell a rat.

Has anyone bother to find out if "SSgt" Massey was actually in the Marine Corps (i.e., checked with HQMC PAO or Personnel section) to see if he is for real?

Or are we to take the whole of his story on faith alone?

Considering who he is running with, the guy could be a fake.
