I understand completely. Am 42, never been married and was approached by a man from yahoo personals. My pic got his attention but the reason he contacted me was because my profile says I am conservative. Has been 3 months of email correspondence because he is currently in Iraq. But it is amazing what we have in common.

Nothing may come of it but when I compare this situation with some I had been in when I was younger (10 years ago was involved with an ACLU donor lefty type)the difference is amazing. There was always some underlying tension because I disagreed so strongly with his beliefs.

I'm not openly advocating dumping your girlfriend, but just trying to tell you that life is too short to saddle yourself with situations that don't feel completely right.

And being unskilled at that Harley thing doesn't help either! ;p

"In the Bay Area? Heh heh. Well yes and no. I now know how to (generally) avoid the political whackos, but that makes it tough to meet anyone around here. Haven't dated anyone worth getting serious with yet."

Keep looking! There are some nice conservative girls even in the Bay Area....problem is they're harder to find because they're afraid to speak their minds around here. Maybe a secret handshake would help?!?! LOL The Freeper dating site has possiblities....

I agree with you. It is attitue, not age. My husband and I are proud SPR's in our mid and late 30s -- in fact we're often mistaken for libbies because we're not your traditional pubbies (I'm an aging punker who won't let go of the 80s, he's a jazz fanatic with a soul patch, that sort of thing...).

Yet, we go to mass every Sunday, I'm a STAUNCH pro-life activist who volunteers for Right To Life and he's working on his financial certifications.

Our two year old daughter runs around in a Ramones t-shirt and listens to Thelonius Monk at bedtime, our house is decorated with vintage toys and rock/punk memorbelia. I will never be a Martha Stewart-clone soccer mom and he will never be a William F. Buckley Jr, but we are hard core righties and always will be. Heck, we could even be considered part of the Christian Right when you come to think of it... ;-)

Hey, be nice to Helen Thomas. She and Robert Byrd are all that we have left from the Pleistocene age.
Guess which one's the Giant Sloth?
