U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton To Speak at Commencement 2005
Troy, N.Y United States Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) will speak at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 199th Commencement, on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at the Harkness Field.
Senator Clinton is a national and global leader, focusing on issues of national security, innovation and science, and education. She has given important focus to regional economic development, paying particular attention to upstate New York concerns, said Rensselaer President Shirley Ann Jackson. We are delighted and honored to have her speak to the next generation of leaders in science, technology, and the arts at the May Rensselaer commencement.

Hey, if they still have some 'tute screws lying around, give one to Hillary. She'll understand how it works.
Well, they DO have an aeronautical engineering program at RPI.
Or here's an idea: a "Who Killed Vince" section on the floor. (I assume they still do this at the Field House.) Ten or more start chanting "Who killed Vince," about five minutes into her speech with a couple of designated photographers to get get close-ups of the CSQ's expression when she hears the chant begin.
I was talking to another alum today who told me about his email to the Tute. He apologized for only making it two sentences long, but it included this beautiful one: "She has no technical standing and dubious character."

I was there for three semesters in the late seventies (found out the hard way I really didn't like engineering). They had school-sponsored chugging contests back then. I read about the school now and don't even recognize it.
The senior class voted on 22 potential speakers - Hillary came in 16th.ML/NJ
But the nitwit president wants her anyway.
Ain't she the twit who wants the place called "Renssalear" instead of RPI?
"The senior class voted on 22 potential speakers - Hillary came in 16th."
Crap! Now she has a mandate.

You can bet some pinko on the RPI staff leveraged her in.
That pinko is the president of RPI.

In 1995 President William Clinton appointed Dr. Jackson to serve as Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Dr. Jackson was Chairman of the NRC from 1995-1999
'nuff said right there. I wonder how much nuclear technology she helped the Chicoms obtain during her tenure?
And is it just me, or does she look like Chairman Mao?

Given who she's married to...animal husbandry?
Need speaker coverageI thought about suggesting that they try to get Dr. Collins and ask Hillary to host a "Coffee" instead, but thought that might appear to be too mean-spirited.To the Editor:
I noticed that you have yet to give any real news coverage to the selection of Hillary Clinton to be the Commencement speaker this yearone sentence buried deep in an article about tuition increases doesnt count! Its been two weeks, not counting your recess.
One of my colleagues, also an RPI graduate, summed it up beautifully when he said, She has no technical standing and is of dubious integrity. So why the silence? Were the students consulted? The faculty? What did they say?
To the math professor who suggests that we should just give up commencement speeches if we must look for non-controversial speakers I say, Rubbish!
My daughter graduated from the University of Virginia in 2001. The commencement speaker was Francis Collins, who directed the genome project. He gave a pretty good speech. He certainly has technical standing, and no one I know doubts his integrity.

There is an article in the paper this week about the selection of the CSQ. (Opinions vary on speaker process, selection )

Good letter. I'm amazed the Poly printed it.
My neice graduated from RPI. They've really turned out to be a radical left wing administration. Shiela Lee Jackson, the President, is a real socialist lover.
