Political road rage

Wednesday, March 9, 2005
The woman escaped by hiding in this park.
A woman became a road rage victim Tuesday not because of the way she drove, but because of how she voted in the last presidential election.
It happened in Tampa and the entire drama was recorded during a 911 call.

Officers say Nathan Winkler, 31, saw a Bush-Cheney bumper sticker on Michelle Fernandez's car and showed her a sign of his own.

"He drove up next to me, with his, he has a sign hanging from his windshield, passenger window that says something about the war in Iraq," Fernandez said during her call to 911. "And he literally tried to run me off the road. And I'm just trying, I'm just getting away from him right now, but I mean I'm shaking like a leaf."

Fernandez stayed on the phone with the 911 operator as Winkler allegedly tried to hit her.

"Oh, here he is again, here he is again," Fernandez screamed. "I have my kids in the car. He's running after my car. He's in the middle of the street."

When the 911 operator asked, "Was that him blowing his horn at you," Fernandez responded, "No, I was just blowing a horn at somebody because I'm running stoplights and everything else to get away from him."

The 911 operator tried to convince Fernandez to drive to a police station, but she was afraid to stop.

Winkler was tracked to this home.
"Will they be ready for me?" asked Fernandez. "Because, I've got kids in the car and everything else."

Fernandez eventually got away by hiding in a park. Officers traced Winkler's license plate to his Tampa home, where they found his handwritten message still inside the car.

It said, "Never forget Bush's illegal oil war murdered thousands in Iraq."
Winkler is facing one count of aggravated stalking. He was released from jail Wednesday on $2,000 bond.

Hmm...Florida's a "shall-issue" state. Not that I would ever advocate violence against somebody trying to kill you...

I bet many a big old truck with a Bush supporting Southern gentleman somehow escaped his wrath...Geez, I wonder why?

I am sure he saw more than a few Bush stickers yet he chose to go after a woman with kids in the car.

Little yellow punk!

Yeah I guess. Check out those losers on the 'comments about this story' section at that site. They need a good lesson in reality.

the guy sounds like my goofy half brother. He's over fifty and yet he flew into a rage at my mother's house while he was supposed to be looking after her after colon cancer surgery, because she mentioned something about what a shame it was that they beheaded that contractor in Saudi Arabia--- and he started spewing hateful hissing stuff about Bush, packed up his things, and drove the ten hours home, not calling her for three weeks to say he was ok. For all she knew he could have been dead on the highway somewhere, and she had to call him and threaten to call the cops if he didn't call back. Oh this is so considerate to do to a 67 year old, frail arthritic woman who just had major abdominal surgery. Suuuuure.... liberals are so compassionate....

So, the big mature guy he was, he called his FRIEND to call my mom and say he was ok.

So, given that my brother is pretty normal the rest of the time, if a little reclusive, I am not surprised in the least at this kind of nutty behavior, considering how much more (more than my brother, I mean) angry and loony the rest of the liberal population has become.

A lot of folks work themselves into this state as a means of self-validation. They are not reachable by rational means because it isn't a rational state, it's a world-wide passion play with themselves in the starring role.

I've made it clear to a couple of friends that if politics is more important than friendship to them, that's OK with me, and that's cost me at least one and probably another (he hasn't been in touch for awhile). It is simply a lack of respect and common decency that motivates someone to use a friend as a stage prop.

Hang on, we have some nice people on their way to help you. A nice warm bed and a place where you can't hurt yourself. You will know them by their white clothes and the large butterfly net.

Or maybe just some nice kitties.

I had a Internet friend from Sweden that I had been communicating with for over 5 years, sharing music, pictures, thoughts etc. He emailed me about 2 months before THE ELECTION and asked me who I supported. I told him that I was doing everything in my power to make sure that JF'NK would not be elected because of what he did to this country in the 1970's. Haven't received a response yet. Sa la Vie!

I like the idea of conservatism in that it involves the noble controlling louts like you.

I can't believe this guy is on bail. Reckless endangerment, use of a vehicle as a weapon, harassment, stalking, and violation of civil rights, just off the top of my head.
