Sorry, but I find it absurd to simply accept the "it depends on the meaning of the word species" as a justifiable argument.

Sorry, but when you deny that speciation has been observed, the meaning of the term 'speciation' is obviously relevant.

I'm glad I saw this post. It would have been nice for you to have pinged me to it, since I wrote the posts your talking about. There is debate, for example, whether dogs and wolves are the same or different species. When you get to closely related animals, particularly in those in which procreation can occur as with varieties of big cats, the lines between species become a bit blurry. It's not always as clear as if it can breed then it's the same animal and if it can't then it's a different animal.
