Seems to be a lot of missing information in the article.

You're right. I notice that the first paragraph says he actually broadcast it, but the quote from the undercover agents says he only told them he could broadcast it. It doesn't actually say whether the agents saw the broadcast.

If the guy actually did it, though, my first instinct is simply to make him disappear forever, with no fanfare.

You noticed too. Not only is this story beyond belief but it either...

1. Didn't happen

or

2. It is the worst job of writing a news article this side of the Crimson White--The University of Alabama (liberal)student newspaper.

The story raises questions and doesn't answer them.
