And for every two reasons you can come up with for NOT having a cat,I can come up with 20,why one shouldn't own a dog!

Or, for that matter, children.

Children aren't pets and if you don't like children...don't have any.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm a cat person. But in general, if people can't handle a pet (especially an independent beast like a cat) they probably shouldn't have kids.

They're really quite useless.

You've obviously never had a kitty high. Nothing like it.

You poor, poor man.

Nice tag.

I notice you have a leather couch. Do your cats tear it up with their rear claws?

If you keep a loaded gun lying around in random places, with the safety off and a bullet in the chamber, there's always a chance it will go off. No matter what safety features are built into a gun, if it falls in such a way that something knocks into the trigger hard, it will go off. Not a big chance, since it would have to be an object of just the right shape/size, and the gun would have to fall on it in just the right way, but it can always happen. I think most of these "it fell and went off" stories are either 1) lies to cover what really happened (i.e. something criminal or colossally stupid), or 2) it fell and the person tried to catch it on it's way down, catching the trigger in the process (which actually qualifies as colossally stupid).

My cat is definitely a liberal democrat. She is lazy and sleeps all day - and expects someone to feed her and clean out her crapper. Plus, she has a lot of attitude.

Holy crap, you're right. They're ALL libs. I harbor four of the little buggers. Ooooo, I'm gonna make 'em all go out and get jobs. Tomorrow.

If I saw a dude walking a cat, I would definitely be attracted to him.

Not really. There are small pin holes on the top corners and sides where the kittens were learning to climb but now that they've gotten bigger and better at jumping, they're not adding to them nearly as much. Our adult cats almost never damage the couch. Plus we place large scratching posts at the sides of the couches and anything else we don't want them to sharpen their nails on. It works.

Good to know. I need a new couch, and preferably one covered with a material which will repel cat hair. Of course leather is perfect. Though the rear claws are still a concern, they sure like to use them to propel off of me. I wear my scars proudly.

Thank you. I am enjoying it very much. Too bad about the allergies. And good luck with the marriage.

Oh also if the leather is soft and mushy, they can't damage it nearly as much as if it's pulled tight. We have another older leather couch whose arm rests are tight and firm and they have scratched the heck out of them merely buy jumping on and off. The soft leather couch however, which is pictured, is not suffering the same damage.

the Egypt analogy REALLY fits.

Yeah, tell me about it - my back was sore, and they sent me to a Cairopractor... (rimshot)
