I have to admit the hundreds of thousands at the rally cannot be easily dismissed, but this does shed some doubt on the authenticity of Hezbollah's support, at least within Lebanon.

There were probably a lot less hot chicks at the Hezbollah rally than at the pro-independence rallies.
They can't compete with this!

...but this does shed some doubt on the authenticity of Hezbollah's support....It appears to shed light on Hezbollah's ability to administer fear.

Lebanon has a population of about 3.6MM people. That percentage of the population can't be totally manufactured. I am sure they had help but there is a true backing for Hezbollah and Syria among the Muslim population in Lebanon.

Tiny proportion of females. Disproportionate amount of the males are of military age. Then check the haircuts. I.e., most of them appear to be Syrian conscripts in civilian clothes. The usual.

The lines are being drawn in the Muslim world...either you are with us or against us....
Terrorism is a Muslim problem. The West can bomb them, kill them, or imprison them...but in the end, Muslims will have to clean up their own house if real peace is to be had in that region and the world in general...
It will get worse. As the terrorists feel freedom's pressure they will lash out in all directions...like the cornered dogs they are. Many civilians will die...for freedom is never free....
On the surface this may look bad...in reality it is a very good thing....IMHO

Aoun also said recent information has shown Syrian and Lebanese forces have been trying to stir up violence with the opposition in hopes of precipitating a confrontation that may delay Syria's announced withdrawal of troops. Same tactics tried in Iraq by the Jordanian Zawahiri -- promote religious and tribal conflict to undermine the democratic process. Only the Shiites withstood it there. Let's hope they do the same in Lebanon. Palestinians and Hezbollah are not native products.

This has to be the oxymoron of the century.

"Attendance at the rally greatly outnumbered recent demonstrations led by opposition figures against Syria's presence in Lebanon and was billed by Hezbollah speakers as a sign Syria enjoys popular support among the people of Lebanon "
What it shows is that the majority of Lebanese are terrorists. One cannot support Hezbollah without being a terrorist.

I've been wondering something the last few days, does anybody know how all of this is affecting the Syrian people? Do they have an opposition party? Anybody know? Thanks.
