ATTN Texas Freepers- PAYROLL TAX ALERT
March 8 2005

Posted on 03/08/2005 9:22:56 PM PST by ArmyBratproud

ATTENTION TEXAS FREEPERS, there is a severe case of RINOitis going on in the Austin right now.

Word is coming from Austin that there will be a vote, maybe as early as Wednesday March 9th or Thursday March 10th, on HB 2 and HB 3. The vote will happen with in the next week to two weeks for sure.

Part of the legislation involves a PAYROLL TAX! A payroll tax will hurt small businesses as well has harm the job market for the State of Texas. It would drain money from businesses that could go to new hires as well as pay for promotions.

A PAYROLL TAX IS A STATE INCOME TAX IN DISGUISE.

Many Republicans in Austin have been going soft on this issue. On Tuesday March 8th we learned that two Republicans introduced a Snack Tax.

It is urged the every Texan contact every other Texan they know, whether it be via e-mail, telephone, or word of mouth, and urge them to contact both their State Representative and State Senator and tell them to stop the payroll tax.

Use the following to locate your incumbent.

http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/fyi/fyi.htm

There is a concern that the House will use a vote where they do not have to list their own names to the vote. Inform your State Rep. And State Senator, since it looks like it may clear the House and go to the Senate, that you will not accept excuses.

At this time it looks too many Republicans are willing to vote in favor of the Payroll Tax.

Yet none of them want to address the issue of cutting wasteful and redundant spending at the district and state regulated level.

LET THEM KNOW THAT THEY CAN’T CLAIM TO BE FOR CONSERVATIVE SPENDING AND TAX CUTS…AND THEN VOTE FOR MORE TAXES.

Part of the legislation involves shortening the school year to save money, so there is less call for a tax increase. Remember, they told us the lotto would give the schools a ton of money. Well, SHOW US THE MONEY!

News 8 (WFAA) in Dallas reported that the house vote may go down as early as Wednesday March 9th!

The TADA has been following this issue as well. Since it will affect all types of franchise businesses.

It may not be enough to e-mail a letter to your incumbent.

Many times it is best to make a call to their Austin and district office and voice the concern.

Many times the staff won't pass on the e-mail to the incumbent when the vote is close.

You are welcome, ma'am.

Please ping it and pass it on.

Tell everyone you know.

Up here in the metro mess...it looks like Burt Solomons and many other Republicans on the House side, and many on the Senate side (like JANE NELSON) are gonna be soft on this issue.

Greg Knap and Darryl Ankarlo at KLIF and Mark Davis and Gary Mac at WBAP have been addressing the issue.

It looks like Tom Craddick will be on WBAP on Wed. Morning trying to snow job some more on this.

NO RINOS!!!!

Cuts, hard and obvious, and very, very visible, should have been done first. They should be published and more ideas requested.

That is what they are asking us to do. We will sacrifice, even if it's "only" in our savings, extras and charity giving. Some will lose their jobs.

We can not fully fund Medicaid or CHIP.These plans do not allow co-pays or deductibles commensurate with the use. The State will go broke if we give away, without personal responsibility and accountability, all the healthcare the citizens of Texas want other people to pay for. The goal should be to keep our money in Texas, better yet, our counties and cities. The money is skimmed on the way to Washington and back. Robin Hood is, of course, the true mechanism of all taxes.

Has anyone looked into whether the State will pay this tax? How about the School Districts, Cities, and other government agencies? If not, why not? Are their jobs - 'cause, let's face it, this is going to hit our jobs - protected from the hits at perks and raises more than ours?

Teachers do not need $3000 salary increases while the rest of us will lose 1.1% plus.

And where are the increased taxes on alcohol?

In the meantime, Mike Villareal of San Antonio, has a bill going up to force Doctors and ER's to give away "emergency contraception" and to force the State to engage in "public education" on emergency contraception (that it "does not cause an abortion") and a special grant only for sex ed programs that teach teens how to use contraceptives (while it's still not legal for them to have sex).

please see my post above. (and Bump!)

You might also mention HB1212 which includes Parental Consent for abortion and has a provision to at least track the judicial bypasses in order to see where and why they are done. Currently, the only way to guess is to find out how many counties and lawyers are being paid for the bypass procedings. Frank Corte of San Antonio has a bill, HB 17 that will require collection of non-identifiable information to track the judicial bypasses under the current law of parental consent (the abortionist must send a certified letter or talk to a guardian on the phone).

The judicial bypasses cost the State at least the county court fees, plus the lawyers' and "guardian ad litum" fees for each case. And, yet a girl 14 years old and above, can go anywhere in the State, shop for a favorable judge (aided by PP and Emily's List), have a court appointed guardian and a lawyer paid, give the abortionist a false address (if for some reason she doesn't just lie about her age or just have the Dr. call someone she says is a parent) and there is no accounting for what is done as far as follow up for infections, or the incest or abuse that the judge determined qualified the girl for the bypass.

On Tuesday March 8th we learned that two Republicans introduced a Snack Tax.

A payroll tax is a state income tax in disguise.

Snack Tax? Payroll tax? What we really need is a tax on politicians and others who bring up such foolishness while in office. Every time they raise a tax, or vote for a new tax, their personal tax should be increased expotentially, without the benefit of Joe-taxpayer subsidizing their lavish lifestyles. It is tiring to read of a politicians "NEW" revenue enhacing stategy. Most of these turn into money grabbing schemes and a new way to pad a political pocket.
