Macs are probably the better machine but most software now is being developed to run primarily on Windows based PCs. That is meaningless unless you specify a task the computer is supposed to perform and any other mandated software requirements. In general, software for pretty much anything you want to do is available for the Mac.

That is not true by a long shot. The Mac is VERY weak in the realm of accounting software. My company runs on MAS 200, a popular client/server accounting app, and Macs will stay in the prepress ghetto because of gaping holes in their library. We do NOT run MS-Office, and there are not a lot of good alternatives in the Mac world for the basics, and of course, these are Microsoft products.
