Are you truly as ignorant as you appear or do you really like spreading false information?

I see you have decided to start spewing personal insults - how unoriginal. Guess you ran out of intellectual ammunition.

It has been posted on FreeRepublic MANY times that the iPod battery can be replaced... do it yourself for about $30

Are you ignorant of the fact that this voids the warranty? Are you ignorant of the fact Apple clearly states the Ipod is not designed to be opened by the user? Are you ignorant of the fact that replacing the battery in the Creative Nomad (that has twice the storage and about half the price of an Ipod) does not void the warranty?

Yep, we're all really worried about voiding an expired warranty.

Building in the battery was a design trade-off, not a shortcoming. By doing so, they were able to make the unit smaller and more durable than the competition, since battery holders, covers and latches take space, and they also have a habit of breaking. The tradeoff for these benefits is a slightly more effort required to replace the battery.

That's a problem I can live with. The competition's crappy interface and user controls that don't let me pick one song out of several hundred really fast is something I can't live with. Perfect integration with iTunes, the audio program I switched to a few months ago (only because it's the best, I didn't own an iPod), is also a plus.

Show me an 80gb Nomad for $175 or a 40gb Nomad for $150, a 2gb Nomad for $75 or a 1gb Nomad for $50. That's what you're going to have to come up with to validate your statement above. The Ipods are: $350 for the 40gb, $300 for the 20gb, $150 for the 1gb, and $100 for the 512mb.

You're lying through your teeth when you say you can get a Nomad with twice the storage for the half the price. You'd be lying through your teeth if you said you could get a Nomad with the SAME storage at half the price.

Excuse me... That was not a personal insult. Ignorance is curable... but you keep spouting ignorant and incorrect information despite the number of people who point out that YOU ARE WRONG and providing the correct information. No matter how many times they present this correct information, you will again spout the incorrect and clearly false or completely outdated information.

Since you have now been educated about this subject, and are no longer "ignorant" on the subject, I can only conclude that the second option is correct: "You like spreading false information."

Are you ignorant of the fact that this voids the warranty? Are you ignorant of the fact Apple clearly states the Ipod is not designed to be opened by the user?

No. Dog, I am aware that Apple has a warranty that will replace a battery if it fails in the warranty period, I am also aware that although Apple has stated that the iPod was not designed to be opened by users, it is not impossible, and even provides instructions on how to do it, All of the above makes me informed of the facts and, hence, not ignorant.

It is YOU who choose to ignore the facts as presented by almost every iPod user on this thread and to continue to spout "facts" that they clearly know are wrong... and that makes you ignorant or deliberate in your spreading of false information.
