NEW ATTITUDES: Gay parents set a loving example for children
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 3/08/05 | MARY MANGANELLO

Posted on 03/08/2005 7:07:34 AM PST by madprof98

What do you think when you think of gay people? Most people would answer that question with sounds of disgust. But why? What did gay people do that was so bad? Why do so many people hate gay people?

Is there a reason? Well, most people would say, "It says so in the Bible." Who wrote the Bible? Men. Men who feared. Men who had to be in control. Men who also said women should have no rights.

The same men who said women should have no rights also said that gay people should have no rights. But why? Because they feared what they didn't understand. You hide behind God. You say, "Well, God said that gay people can't be together, they won't go to heaven." But did he? No. He only left behind 10 laws. We know them as the Ten Commandments. None of them says, "Gays can't be together or they won't go to heaven." God loves and accepts everyone.

Don't you see that what happened only a few years ago is happening now? It used to be everyone hated the black people, but now it's everyone hates the gay people.

Is this what the world should be like? Hatred? No. God put us on this world to love.

Gay people are just like everyone else. They love. They have arguments. They want children. They have to eat to live. They die at old ages. So what makes them so different?

And if we made it against the law for gay people to be together, guess who else you'd be hurting? Children. The children in orphanages who always dreamed of having a real home, a home where they were loved and wanted.

Gay people are adopting children because they can't have children of their own. Trust me, I would know.

I am one of those children who were adopted by two gay men. They are the best family I've ever had. And they love.

They don't care that I'm black and they're white, they don't care that I look, sound or am different. They love. And who could understand that more than a child who had never been loved, and is finally loved by people whom other people hate?

I don't think that I could ever hate because I'm surrounded by real love.

I wonder how many people believe this column was actually written by a middle-school student.

She's been programmed pretty darned well.

Thus giving us an additional reason not to give homosexuals access to other people's children.

No way did a she write this herself. It was probably written by GLSEN or some other gay activist group.

This chick has no clue.

If she thinks she can quote the Bible, she might want to quote actual verses.

You don't want to know, Mary. It's too sickening.

I'm still attempting to find a place in the Bible where it says that women should have no rights. From all that I have read, the Bible liberates women in more ways than most Libs think. As for who wrote it... God used men who had common sense enough to know what parts go where and with whom.

At first, reading thru this I thought, wow, this person is logic challenged! Then, when I realized it was written by a middle schooler, I thought, ok, they aren't to the point of brain development where logic is easy for them.
So, I'll splain it to her.
Just because someone disapproves of someone's lifestyle does not mean they hate them.
Being homosexual and being black are not the same thing.
Some studies suggest that children living with homosexual parents do not turn out as well adjusted as children living in a home with heterosexual parents.

This person seeks to teach Christianity without reading the Bible...seems pretty arrogant and foolish to me. According to Romans they are violating the First Commandment.

Rom 1:25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Rom 1:26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, Rom 1:27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. Rom 1:28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, Rom 1:29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; {they are} gossips, Rom 1:30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, Rom 1:31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; Rom 1:32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

This is typical.

It is part of the agenda. It is just circular logic and double-speak. Families are prehistoric arrangements that are tantamount to slavery - that is unless they are gay familes. Marriage is prison - unless its gay marriage.

Do I think that in some case gay couples would raise a foster child better than the loutish parents who gave birth to the child? - sure, why not - in some cases -definitely.

Just don't try to sell us on the crap that gay parents are better thean straight parets - gay couples have jsut as much if not more baggage than straight couples, and they are just as likely, if not more likely to screw that kid up.

The more the pink left pushes the further the rest of us distance ourselves from them. How else do you explain the fact that opinion polls show that less Americans favor gay rights than they did 10 years ago.

Trust me, IT'S NOT BUSH'S FAULT!. It's a self fulfilling prophesy - and that is what they want.

"Who wrote the Bible? Men. Men who feared. Men who had to be in control."

You mean the men who gave up their own lives and were sawn in two, beheaded, imprisoned, crucified, ,etc.?

Some control.
