Stop. I have no time for your obfuscation and misdirection. Your doctor you champion is a quack who overhypes his "credentials" - that alone is enough for me.
You have a view of the case you are trying to support through those facts you can find in your favor. I develop a view based upon the facts, good, bad, and other. That is, in your words, "talking past each other." There is nothing you could hear that would may you believe that Terri is functionally brain dead. Even though every qualified doctor who has interpreted the objective evidence says she is.
There are people who are capable of walking around despite brain damage sufficient that a CT scan would suggest they were dead. The fact that they can walk, therefore, would seem a more accurate assessment of the actual state of their brain than the CT.
If a doctor is taking an ECG of a patient on a treadmill and the waveform suddenly goes berzerk while the patient is running, should a doctor immediately call code, or should the doctor decide that since the patient is showing no conspicuous problem there is nothing grossly wrong with the heart--just a loose lead wire?
How about this for a test procedure: hook Terri up to a polygraph, take a blood sample, and play some randomly-sequenced tape recordings of various people all in a neutral tone of voice saying various things. Then give the recordings (in different random order) and the polygraph readings to someone who wants Terri alive and see if that person can divide both pictures and polygraph readings into different categories. If Terri is PVS, it should be impossible to assign any grouping better than chance. If Terri gives polygraph responses that allow e.g. a statement from Michael Schiavo that he's going to kill her like he killed her cats, to be distinguished from a statement from her parents that she'll be fine if she can relax, that would objectively prove that she is not PVS.
As for the blood test, the purpose of that should be obvious.
"There are people who are capable of walking around despite brain damage sufficient that a CT scan would suggest they were dead. The fact that they can walk, therefore, would seem a more accurate assessment of the actual state of their brain than the CT".Hmmmmm..........I think you should backup that statement with a cite. No science fiction movie titles please.....
Terri ping! If anyone would like to be added to or removed from my Terri ping list, please let me know by FReepmail!
Amazing information on your homepage. Did you read it???
You, lugsoul, obviously can't read or observe and hence not worth having any type of discourse with.
Thanks!
Regarding your PDF link to the petition in post #64...
That is one hell of a post. I had not previously read that petition. I hope others will.
I appears that Gibbs has been doing a very good job. It's just falling on deaf ears.
In addition to the failure to provide basic medical care and other necessities and comfort, I was interested to see the allegation that Michael (the "guardian" -- now there's a laugh!) has spent more than $500,000 of Terri's trust money on attorney's fee's in attempt to have her life terminated.
I had previously read a FR post which provided a simple accounting of money in and money out of the trust. I can't recall which thread it was in or who posted it, but I have recently been thinking about it.
My recollection is that virtually ALL the money out has gone to attorey's fees. That is right along, ever since the award was made.
I also recall a photo being posted here of Michael's new Mercedes.
I spent 26 years as a stockbroker. I have dealt with many trusts and trustees.
(I'm tapping my fingures -- something I habitually do when I am annoyed.)
This is wrong. A trustee should not do those sorts of things. The words "guardian" and "trustee" mean something. At least they are supposed to mean something.
Michael is neither. He has a judge who has taken his side and who has gone deaf otherwise.
ContraryMary and some others make good points, but there is no way I can add this up to a just outcome.
If Michael doesn't want her (which is clear), I'll take her. I'll go get her today.
Here we go again with the
"Terri must prove she can be rehabilitated before she deserves to live" nonsense.
Terri does not deserve starvation any more than the rest of us imperfect humans deserve starvation.
Thank you. I try to read court documents for my info and backup my statements with links.

And therein lies the crux of the matter. Terri could walk into court and ask to live and she'd be told she's PVS.

This whole thing is shameful.
ProLife Ping!
If anyone wants on or off my ProLife Ping List, please notify me here or by freepmail.
I think it's criminal. It has the color of judicial sanction, but it is outright criminal.
That was Terri's money.
It is just as well that I don't live in Florida. I'd get liquored up some night and do some things that would get me put in jail for a long time.
Judge Greer would be removed from the bench with prejudice, and Michael's new Mercedes would need a little body work. His half-million dollar home and fancy swimming pool would not be quite so inviting in the morning.
What are you? Dyslexic? If you haven't got anything to say that's relevant to the post, quit wasting your time.
You're welcome.
An honorable position on this sensitive matter is not bolstered with bogus rationale: this "doctor" is a quack, and it undermines your case to rely on him.
