(Bridgeport-AP, Mar. 7, 2005 8:55 AM) _ Bridgeport high schools will be keeping an eye out for slow students. Not slow academically, but rather slow footed students.
As one way to address violence in the schools in the past, the idea is to eliminate so-called "mall mentality" with students congregating in the hallways between classes.
Beginning today, students will have to get from one class to another in a set amount of time or face detention. Several violations could lead to tougher discipline.
The time to get from one class to the next has been increased from four minutes to six minutes. The school systems has hired hall monitors to keep the students moving.

"Bridgeport presses kids to move faster to class"
"faster" must have been redefined since I left school?

Solution: Give them more time to get from point A to point B

My high school had five floors and we had 4 minutes between classes. Going from 5th floor to 2nd was fun. Going from lunch on 1st floor to 5th, not so fun.

People would have to be crazy to send their children to Bridgeport public schools to begin with.

LOL
A movie should come out that is popular and has some of these baggy pants people getting beat up because they are not able to fight or run because of the baggy pants.

Goal: Get kids moving faster. Solution: Give them more time to get from point A to point B And don't forget to notify the press.
Tell them of your 2 minute change, your hiring of hall monitors and your big problem with violence. Like we care?
What's going on with this story? So much of it is bizarre!!!!

Ha, probably have about as much luck getting the traffic moving on 95 through Bridgeport. Slow for absolutely no good reason, or at least it was when I lived in New Haven.

maybe its not the kids who are the problem but the obsticles in their path say a gang or two that prevent the movement and the 2 minutes was given to the gangs so that they could sqeeze in robbing kids while they are moving and still make it to class...

Now, that's not quite fair....they have passable football and basketball teams. And, this year their fencing teams qualifed for the state team championship. Education? Well, I'm not sure too many of their graduates go ivy or near ivy...

When I was in high school (a very long time ago) you received three days off if you were tardy five times.
It made me wonder if they'd give me money to rob banks.
