03/07/05 | Marjorie Seemann

Posted on 03/07/2005 4:56:57 PM PST by newslady

To celebrate Dan's departure, folks in the Big Ezy will be partying on Wednesday, March 9th from 5 to 6:15 PM at the Veterans' Memorial Park across from Lakeside Shopping center in Metairie, Louisiana. The Pelican Pachyderm Club and friends, including FReepers Patriot1 and Newslady, will be participating in a DAN RATHER "RETIREMENT" PARTY/JAZZ FUNERAL FOR LIBERAL BIAS IN THE MEDIA.

We will be second-lining and celebrating to the accompaniment of a New Orleans brass band. To add to the atmosphere and to draw attention to this event, there will be fire truck and vintage police car.

Anyone who can make it to the Big Ezy on Wednesday afternoon is invited to join in the fun. We're going to have a ball telling Dan goodbye and good riddance!

I forgot to mention that we will also have a plethora of catchy anti-Dan signs. I have made two signs thus far:

DAN'S RATHER BIASED!

TELL THE TRUTH? DAN WOULD RATHER NOT!

I will try to post photos from the event.

By the way, I haven't watched Dan since 1988. I've been boycotting him since he was unconscionably rude to George Herbert Walker Bush in 1988. I'm dependent on others to tell me what Dan says.

Tom, you are prophetic. "A closer walk with thee" is probably the most popular Jazz Funeral tune.

I already feel like bursting out in song to celebrate Danny Boy's firing, I mean retirement: "Oh Happy Day!"

That's exactly how I meant it. I'm glad somebody got it. Not bad for a New Englander huh? -Tom

DAN RATHER "RETIREMENT" PARTY/JAZZ FUNERAL

What a great idea! Wish I could be there.

Was in the New Orleans for a week in '03 after an Aunt passed. What a great town!

They're all gone now, sleeping peacefully in the family plot in Metairie.

Always thought Jazz Funerals were a great way to go out, but I don't think Dan is going "up there".

It's been so long since we watched Dan Rather or other MSM idiots that we wouldn't recognize them if they walked in the door. We are so grateful for Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, Hannity, etc. So very grateful.

Sounds like fun.

Remember what G-Dan once had to say about his nights at cBS:

"Ed Murrow’s ghost is here. I’ve seen him and talked to him on the third floor of this building many times late at night."

You've GOT to hear "The Day Dan Rather Lied".
Go to
http://www.kfyi.com/newpages/personalities/liddy_hill.html#dan -- scroll down to the "Listen to the Song" link, right-click and save to disk. They have the lyrics written out there, too. Priceless!
