United Nuclear is currently in final testing, and will shortly be producing Hydrogen Fuel Systems & Hydrogen generators for several late model, fuel injected, Gasoline powered vehicles.

Powering a vehicle by Hydrogen is by no means a new idea, and in fact, almost all automobile manufacturers are currently developing a new generation of vehicles that run on Hydrogen as opposed to Gasoline. This new generation of vehicles are essentially electric cars that use a Fuel Cell instead of a battery to run the electric motor. Using a chemical process, Fuel Cells in these new vehicles convert the stored Hydrogen on board, and the Oxygen in the air, directly into electricity to power their electric motors. These new vehicles are very efficient, and in fact are more efficient than any internal combustion engine. The problem is that these new vehicles are years away from production, are very expensive, and converting to using Hydrogen fuel in this manner requires you to buy a new ( and expensive ) vehicle. All Hydrogen/Fuel Cell systems currently under development by large manufacturers have you purchase Hydrogen as you would Gasoline. Our system comes with its own "in-home" Hydrogen generator which allows you to manufacture fuel yourself at near zero cost. Our Hydrogen conversion is an intermediate approach that simply converts your existing vehicle to burn Hydrogen or Gasoline. The Gasoline fuel system remains intact and is not modified. This allows you to switch between running on Gasoline or Hydrogen at any time. The engine itself is only slightly modified, the conversion makes substantial changes to the computer & electrical system, ignition and cooling systems. Since they never have to be removed, Hydrogen fuel storage (Hydride tanks) can be installed in virtually any available space within the vehicle.

How does one use fertilizer to de-salinate land that has been exclusively irrigated with ground water? LOL, I think it's time for some of these city boys to spend a little time helping to raise the food they take for granted! What do you suggest is the future of the U.S. energy system? I mean beyond drilling in ANWR if we are even allowed to do it within my life time. It seems to me that we have a limited supply of oil. With China and India quickly becoming fully industrialized, we should be cautious about the possibility of oil prices raising quickly (supply and demand), and having to compete for the stuff.

If the above commitment was directed at me, here is a little background. I grew up poor. My family owns a small alfalfa hay ranch in Fall River Mills, CA (no we don’t waste land for ethanol), and I learned every quick that working with my mind is better then my back. I’m 31 yrs and drive an old car because I can’t justify flushing money down the toilet just so my neighbor can be impressed.

Why not? Space aliens travelling half way across the galaxy in UFO's driven by V-8 engines running on hydrogen produced from solar cells makes as much sense as anything else he's proposed.

Trust me, if I chose to attack, you wouldn't be left wondering. The only disagreement (and I consider it a low-key disagreement) that I've had on this thread was your advocacy of solar power while at the same time refusing to confront the technical and economic realities of that failed technology.

Take a look at the table I posted in #215 for a good summary of the technical and economic limitations.

I suggest that you view bmw's recent effort with a h2 combustion test vehicle that reached 305 klm/h. They also display the ability of their pressurized tanks to both endure impact and flame testing. While your thumbnail conjures emotions from decades past, I doubt that canvas will be the fuel tank of choice.

Yes, we aren't talking about floating balloons with tons of pure hydrogen gas held together by stitched animal product. That truly was an astoundingly stupid idea. These cells may work, and work well.

Also, consider the economic impact of having mega corporations that exist inside the US providing these things to us, instead of all the money we pump (no pun intended) into the middle east? Even if initial costs are higher than gasoline, we could still cause our own economic boom simply by moving such an enormous industry inside our borders and having total control over it. At least when we get gouged by high hydrogen cell prices, that money may actually fuel our own economy. It's the lesser of two evils I think.

But it's all a pipe dream. In reality we will outsource the production to china. *Sigh* We can't win.
