Nancy Soderberg, a Clinton aide and senior foreign policy advisor to Senator Edward M. Kennedy, recently appeared on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and exposed, in the clearest of terms, what Democrats are thinking.
Soderberg, who was promoting her book, "The Superpower Myth: The Use and Misuse of American Might", was describing the premise of her book by saying, "What I argue is that the Bush administration fell hostage to the superpower myth, believing that because we're the most powerful nation on earth, we were all-powerful, could bend the world to our will and not have to worry about the rest of the world. I think what they're finding in the second term is, it's a little bit harder than that, and reality has an annoying way of intruding."
Stewart interrupted her pitch by asking, "But what do you make of--here's my dilemma, if you will. I don't care for the way these guys conduct themselves--and this is just you and I talking, no cameras here [audience laughter]. But boy, when you see the Lebanese take to the streets and all that, and you go, "Oh my God, this is working," and I begin to wonder, is it--is the way that they handled it really--it's sort of like, "Uh, OK, my daddy hits me, but look how tough I'm getting." You know what I mean? Like, you don't like the method, but maybe--wrong analogy, is that, uh?"
Clearly, knocked off stride, Soderberg responded with the following: "Well, I think, you know, as a Democrat, you don't want anything nice to happen to the Republicans, and you don't want them to have progress. But as an American, you hope good things would happen. I think the way to look at it is, they can't credit for every good thing that happens, but they need to be able to manage it. I think what's happening in Lebanon is great, but it's not necessarily directly related to the fact that we went into Iraq militarily."
With Stewart cutting in to her comments, Soderberg went on to say, "These guys could really pull off a whole -- series of Nobel Peace Prizes here, which -- it may well work. I think that, um, it's -- It's scary for Democrats, I have to say."
Then, when Stewart started comparing Bush to Reagan, Soderberg said, "Well, there's still Iran and North Korea, don't forget. There's hope for the rest of us. There's always hope that this might not work."
She also admitted repeatedly that Democrats are hoping for American failure in the Middle East.

Bingo. It's amazing the number of lefties jumping in front of the parade these days--I guess they learned well from their mentor, Der Slickmeister.
Expect more thunder-stealing by the left as the ME reforms before our eyes. Remember all those lefty congresscritters voting for the war in Iraq yet fought for the terrorists all through the war? Don't be surprised when they wave the flag in their '06 campaigns and claim victory in the ME.
WTF!!!???
OMG. I knew they were whackos, I knew their hatred ran deep, but this is scary in terms I could never have fathomed! No wonder this party is so full of venom - they're willing to sacrifice the good of EVERYONE because they (boo freakin' hoo) didn't get their way. What a bunch of spoiled, immature, crybaby, ignorant, UNCARING jerks!!
c. Soderberg.
LOL!!
Words fail me. The only thing I can think of with regards to this woman rhymes with runt.
"superpower myth"
And the recent progress in the ME is a myth? It's all Bush's fault of course.
Get a life Demos! We are a superpower. "Reality" has a way of "annoying" Demos whose words do not match their actions.
Bush III in '08.
gpapa
Who is name calling?

She has the timing of Algore.
She begins with a false premise. I believe the Bush administration would say that because we are the only superpower we have a responsibility to use that for the betterment of the world. She almost certainly would disagree with the application, but she doesn't even understand the issue.
I think what's happening in Lebanon is great, but it's not necessarily directly related to the fact that we went into Iraq militarily."
Now there's a solid case of denial of the clear facts.
Then, when Stewart started comparing Bush to Reagan, Soderberg said, "Well, there's still Iran and North Korea, don't forget. There's hope for the rest of us. There's always hope that this might not work."
The evil inherent within the democrat party on clear display here.
I told you, straight from the horses mouth, and I bet the rest of the democrats have the same thoughts, they are just smart enough not to blurt it out on TV, directly atleast.
Yup, it was indeed a telling sign. I'm glad they're not suppressing their thoughts anymore. That will help our side continue winning elections (and increasing congrssional representation in both houses)!
