New book out on the New Madrid quake. I believe it's titled >i>When the Mississippi Ran Backwards'.
Saw the author on CSPAN... Rothscopf(?). Sounded interesting.

Why, thank you, 'pod. We've never had a real quake in South Georgia in my memory, but a few years ago, one shook the neighboring states, and I remember hearing an incredible "clang!" like a piece of armorplate being dropped on a concrete slab- no movement, just noise. Set the dog and birds off real nicely- apparently they hear in ranges inaudible to us.
