My response - if this passes, let's just ban all hunting. One extreme measure merits an equally extreme response.

You know, I've never been able to understand supposed animal lover's opposition to declawing domestic Cats, at least the front set. To do otherwise is to subject Birds, Rabbits and other Cats to death or injury. Why would someone oppose this practice except on the basis of some unrealistic 'Purist' sentiment.

When I was a kid my best friend's father had an effective way to deal with all of the cats roaming the neighborhood. He had a humane-trap cage and he'd put a can of tuna in the cage. He'd poke holes in the can so it could be reused. Cats would smell the tuna and wander into the trap.
After a cat was caught, he'd come out and pick up the heavy, steel trap and drop it into a large garbage can filled with water. 20 minutes later or so he'd retrieve the drowned animal, drop it into a trash bag and toss it into the dumpster.
Very few cats roaming around that neighborhood.

From the People's Republic of Madistan, I don't doubt it for an instant. The people of Madison are an entirely different breed. Sick people. I'm embarassed that I live in the same state.

That's what CCI makes the CB for. Subsonic-velocity, low-report .22 Short ammo.

Well I think Hunter Mark Smith should be free game!
Many Kitty lovers on FR this guy should take his flipped out opinions and go straight to where the sun no longer shines!

All pet owners should have control of their animals 24/7.
Feral cats should be classed like other varmints.
Some cat lovers think because they love their animal, that everybody in their neighborhood should put up with their animals which will kill anything they can catch for fun.

Why exactly did you feel the need to start this thread?
These threads are just jerk magnets.
Does Free Republic really need 5 pages of "jokes" about killing peoples pets.
If you enjoy lifting up rocks and seeing what kind of disgusting things crawl out; post something about
Muslims or cats; then, just sit back and watch the halfwits crawl out from under their rocks, with their slimy little cheap shots.

Smith's proposal has horrified cat lovers, but some see it as a way of stopping cats from killing wild birds. I'm not a cat lover, but history has taught us that removing a predator, like a wild cat, to save a prey animal, in this case birds, usually results in an uncontrolled abundance of prey animals.
By naturally controlling the population of birds the cats are making sure the birds don't over populate the area and become pests.

I guess times have changed. I grew up in Wisconsin many years ago. Conservation authorities then realized that ferral cats were one of the most destructive wildlife entities that existed. PC runs everything these days.

I don't see dogs roaming my neighborhood. I see cats all over the place. I have Purple Martins that nest in my houses by the dozens. I'll choose them over a cat any day.

Oh, man, I know I am uber-prejudiced here, me being a cat lover with 8 cats but this guy is off his rocker and he ain't firing on all 8 cylinders. I know some say the birds are in danger and such, but hey, that's life and that's the way God made things so just let things take their course. I could deal with a few less birds, they crap on my car anyhoo. B-) The only advice I can offer the birds is "move it or lose it" I mean if I cat don't get ya, something else will, it is the way of wildlife for many years. Still though, I do admit, the owners should keep their kitties inside and care for them, maybe we wouldn't have that problem.
Well, Muffin, time to come back from Viking Kitty Valhalla and zot this guy in Wisconsin.

Perhaps we should do that for stray dogs too?
Or better yet, stray people?
