Wonkette has already had some sort of sex scandal associated with her, hasn't she?

OTOH she's a lib - so the MSM would look hypocritical (yet again) if they continue to whine about the Gannon story.

If it happens it will be interesting to see who is the first political blogger to get the nod.

But his site is not a blog.

I don't know why or what the rules are, but in the eyes of the media, he is considered a blog and is usually the very first example given of a blog.

They've even nicknamed him the "grand daddy of all blogs".

Probably Sullivan. He seems to straddle the right and left depending on the issue.

He is a reporter....of sorts. However, I can see why folks have a tough time getting definitions straight in the "new news order" we live in.

I suspect it is someone with impeccable journalistic credentials, just as the Corner at NR, or even perhaps even Veith or Olasky from here. If the media complains about the latter, they won't find questionable personal dirt - and will appear even more Christophobic than everyone knows them to be.

Let me guess....Wonkette.

A liberal blogger like Wonkette would be an inspired choice. She would be the camel's nose under the tent. Her liberalness will abate the fury the Legacy Media is bound to unleash against a conservative blogger (in the form of scurrilous Ad Hominem attacks). Once she is grudgingly accepted and ensconced in the Press Corp, and the concept of a blogger with press credentials accepted, the gates can be opened to consrvative bloggers. Having accepted (or at least tolerated) a liberal blogger, their inevitable attacks against the concept and persons of conservative bloggers will unmask the Legacy Media's agenda and negate their credibility. The camel will be in the tent, the Press Corp salted with conservative bloggers, and a further breach opened in the Legacy Media fortifications.

Drudge is NOT now nor has he EVER been a blog; he's no more than a link to other stories, half of which he snags over other forums.

I suppose if it is Sullivan, the media will look strange for continuing to probe matters of "sexual orientation" of bloggers!

Matt Drudge? The MSM considers his site a blog?

Gee, no wonder why they're so out of touch.

Yeah, it would be a funny choice from that perspective. At least Sullivan doesn't charge for his services. His blog is always talked about in journalist circles. The east coast MSM would approve of him as he still freelances for the Times. It's probably Sullivan.

Is this who we're talking about?

From Newsweek:
"Dec. 27 / Jan. 3 issue - Ana Marie Cox started writing as the Wonkette in January '03, delivering a gossipy, satirical blog on D.C. politics. Now she's working on her first novel..."
