U.S. Ambassador and MDP Head to Meet over Hillary's Visit to Pyongyang

SEOUL, March 6 (Yonhap) -- The head of South Korea's minor opposition Millennium Democratic Party plans to meet U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Christopher Hill this week over a possible visit to North Korea by a group of U.S. senators, including Hillary Clinton, party officials said Sunday.

Hill has requested the meeting with Han Hwa-kap scheduled for Monday at the party's head office in Seoul, they said.

Hill was named last week to become an assistant secretary of state handling Asian affairs, a job that will double him to serve as the chief U.S. nuclear negotiator with North Korea.

Han is pushing to visit North Korea along with U.S. congress members later this year for talks with the communist country's leader, Kim Jong-il, on the ongoing nuclear tension on the Korean Peninsula, the officials said.

Han, who heads the Asian part of the Asia-U.S. Network, a forum of lawmakers from both continents, said earlier this year that he has sent invitations to five U.S. congressmen, including Republican senators Conrad Burns of Montana and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, to visit North Korea.

Han also noted that the New York senator, Clinton, wished to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-il personally to discuss the ongoing nuclear standoff. Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had actively pushed rapprochement with the North's regime in the final months of his Administration.

"We understand that the U.S. Congress and administration strongly support Sen. Hillary Clinton's North Korea visit," an aide to the Korean opposition leader said, requesting anonymity.

The United States and South Korea have met in three rounds of talks that also involve Japan, China, Russia and the North to bring a peaceful end to the 29-month dispute over the North's nuclear weapons program.

The countries have been unable to convene the next round, since the North refused to attend a scheduled meeting in September, citing what it calls U.S. hostility toward Pyongyang.

The situation has also worsened recently, following a series of announcements by Pyongyang that it now has atomic weapons and would boycott future disarmament talks and resume testing long-range missiles.

The North Korean leader, however, hinted at resuming the stalled dialogue by telling a visiting Chinese envoy last month that his country would return to the negotiating table if certain conditions are met.

Go ahead and send her. They'll scoff at her 'appeasment' policy, launch a missle somewhere, and we'll retaliate. No more N. Korea.

Jimmy can give lessons to Bill on building houses for humanity. Might even throw in the secrets to 'erecting' a nice rocking-chair.

Pass me another mint julip, I believe Iran is all ears.

I'm thinking she's planning to pull something here .. and I'm not liking what I'm thinking.

Could she possibly try to make some kind of deal with them .. just to make herself look good .. like she got the NK to do such and such and Bush couldn't ..?? But .. it would all be a sham .. because she had promised NK she would do such and such when she's QUEEN ..??

Is she planning to use this as a stepping stone to the WH ..??

I do not trust this snake in woman's clothing .. and I would not put anything past her. She only does things which benefit her .. not the USA .. which means she's up to something .. and it's already making me very nervous.

I didn't really follow the Clinton stuff or most political stuff until Bush started running for office.

Riady's name is familiar to me - but I don't have a lot of the details in my head from all their scandals .. just a lot of the impeachment stuff.

(on knees, praying to God(yep, God!): "Dear Lord, generally I don't ask for bad things to happen to others, nor for ill will to fall upon them, but please, please, p-l-e-a-s-e, could you cause Hillary Clinton's airplane to go into a "death spiral" from about 35,000 feet? Maybe a recovery at say, ummm, THE GROUND?! Amen."

During the 2004 presidential campaign my wife noticed, and commented that you didn't hear a lot out of Hill. At the time, I said something like, "Oh don't worry honey, it's just the calm before the storm. She's keeping her trap shut because she knows Kerry doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell against Bush. Besides, if Kerry gets elected, then she knows she's not getting the "nomination" for candidacy in 2008, because there's few sitting President's who DON't run, and few who haven't received their party's nomination."

I went on to say, "Besides, she has more to gain with a Kerry loss. She knows that if he loses, that the DEMS will be so pissed off, that they'd nominate the "devil himself" so they could get in '08. She'd be a front runner regardless, as she is a "Clinton" and those libs just love her! You just watch, AFTER the election, and the inuaguration, you'll hear WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than you EVER wanted from MIZ Clinton for the next four years!"

Gosh, it really sucks being a prophet! God help us all if this B*tch gets elected! We all better pray to whatever God we worship, that the mid term elections in '06 don't sway the balance of power into the Dems' favor! Because IF(God NO!) Hillary were to get elected and IF Congress were to be in the Democratic majority, you can kiss all of your guns good bye, the military budgets good bye, and our way of life as we know it good bye! It will be good bye America, and hello, The Democratic Republic of Amerika.

She ought to heed the fallout from Hanoi Jane's visit to N Viet Nam. What an attention hog. Maybe she'll fall passionately in love with some communist revolutionary over there and give it all up to join him in North Korean utopia!

MDP to Arrange Visit to NK for Hillary Clinton

The opposition Millennium Democratic Party is trying to arrange a visit by Hillary Clinton to North Korea along with a group of U.S. senators.

Party chairman Han Hwa-kap plans to meet with U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Christopher Hill today to discuss the issue, according to MDP officials Sunday.

``If possible, the visit will come sometime later this year,’’ an MDP member said on condition of anonymity.

Hill was designated as assistant U.S. secretary of state on North East Asia, a job that will task him with negotiations on the standoff over North Korea’s nuclear weapons program on behalf of the U.S.

Han had been seeking to solidify his political clout by continuing the sunshine policy of engaging North Korea pursued under former President Kim Dae-jung.

Han is now leading the Asian part of the Asia-U.S. Network, a forum of lawmakers from both continents. He sent invitations to five U.S. congressmen earlier this year, including Republican senators Conrad Burns of Montana and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, to visit North Korea with him.

MDP has said the New York senator, Clinton, hoped to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-il to discuss the nuclear issue. Hillary’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, had actively pushed for rapprochement with the North Korean regime in the final months of his administration.

``We understand that both South Korean and U.S. governments would support Senator Hillary Clinton's North Korea visit,’’ an aide to the Korean opposition leader said, requesting anonymity.

Another party member said the U.S. Congress and administration strongly support the senators’ bids to visit North Korea as part of efforts to find a peaceful solution to the continuing impasse involving North Korean nuclear drive.

Senior officials from Seoul, Washington and Tokyo have had several rounds of negotiations to coordinate policies in addressing the nuclear issue.

The nuclear standoff has intensified since the reclusive North declared it had already possessed nuclear weapons and would not take part in the six-party talks aimed at persuading the North into dismantling the nuclear program.

But the North Korean leader has hinted that the North would return to the dialogue table should the U.S. concede certain points including dropping its hostile attitude toward the communist nation.

The nuclear row has been stalled with the participating nations in the multilateral talks having failed to resume the 4th round of negotiations which was originally scheduled for September last year.
