The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat

U.S. works 'day and night' to rein in al-Qaida
Full Story

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

Poem For My Daughter

Daughter you're my dream come true, I'd give my life up, just for you.
You far surpassed my every dream, blessed me with laughter by all your schemes.
Your loving way, your open heart, You've always owned love, right from the start.
You always were special - a one of a kind,
And the answers to each prayer of mine.
All I own are happy memories...of motherhood, and you.
Laughing through life's problems, as somehow we muddle through.
Daughter and mother walking beside each other as friends,
''Till death do us part, our special relationship won't own an end.
You are much more than a dream come true,
you'll never know how strong are the feelings that I feel for you.
Just seeing your smile and your eyes sparkling bright,
Reminds me to thank God for you, each night.
You've brought me far more joys than sorrow,
Each night I go to sleep waiting for tomorrow.
When tomorrow comes and I see you smile, I know you've made my life worthwhile.
When I count my blessings, I count you first,
My biggest blessing since the day of your birth
All my dreams were answered, by the miracle of you,
We've learned how to love both deep and true.
I prayed for you to be gentle, kind, and wise,
So the woman you are came as no surprise.
You've surpassed Earthly beauty - you're a miracle true,
You're wise and smart, and all that I wished for you.
You're everything that a mom could ever pray for,
You're the perfect daughter, and much, much more.
You make my life a fairy tale every time you're near.
You're wonderful just as you are - there's no change needed dear.

By Gentle-Daydreamer

Kiki... you are the strongest soul I'v known besides my mother and thank you for holding me up for the past five months! ILY!

You use this word in Arabic, even more curiouser: Mujahideen (مجاهدين; also transliterated as mujāhidīn, mujahedeen, mujahedin, mujahidin, mujaheddin, etc.) is a plural form of mujahid (مجاهد), which literally translates from Arabic as "struggler", someone who engages in jihad, or "struggle", but is often translated as "holy warrior". In the late twentieth century, the term "mujahideen" became popular in the media to describe various armed fighters who subscribe to Islamic ideologies, although there is not always an explicit "holy" or "warrior" meaning within the word. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mujahideen

Bringing a message to the mystic Abdelqadar Jilali, known as the 'White Hawk'. Calligram in relief on an unidentifiable ground.

This greenbird is sticking in my craw:

THE ASSASSINS OF ALAMUT: CHAPTER 6

A good example is the theme of the green bird. Sinan, it will be remembered, used to hold conversations at night with a mysterious green bird. This motif also figures in Sufism, for it was said that when a dying sheikh nominated an unexpected man as his successor, a green bird would then descend on the head of the selected individual as a sign that he was indeed the rightful spiritual heir. This is perhaps not so surprising, but what is very odd is that similar tales are told about mediaeval papal elections. It is difficult to explain this except as a roundabout transmission from Islamic, and perhaps Isma'ili, sources.

Mythology around the world idealizes that which is in short supply. I suppose that a culture coming from a desert with only pockets of arable land would see the green of a lush landscape as paradise or symbolic of such. The bird in general is the longing for the spiritual as in the raven or crow in northern cultures, the dove in Judeo-Christian thought, etc.

I'm fascinated with this.
