The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat

U.S. works 'day and night' to rein in al-Qaida
Full Story

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

Good morning Cindy. Ian's post sure was full of anger and that is a shame. There may well be some censorship going on here at FR, but this is not a gov't site. It's private and the owner may do as he sees fit.

As for me, I'll stay here on TM at FR. It's the best news source I've found for terrorist activity and news in general.

I've learned too much here to leave now. Speaking of leaving, I'm off to church.

Again, Happy Easter everyone!

A blessed and happy Easter to all...........

And to those who sent condolences on the passing of my father-in-law, thank you. It meant so much to us knowing your thoughts were with us in our loss.

I highlighted the wording I thought most provactive.

As long as Kuwait is in the ME - they will never be out of the woods. They can never let their guard down.

I do have a wrist brace (now), but keyboarding doesn't seem to bother it. Doing other things (such as helping place 31 cubic yards of concrete) are what make it hurt.

Thanks.

A Blessed Easter to all of you.

I figured something was going on in Russia, all of a sudden
almost no news coming out.

It is as tho they rushed around and sold arms to all of our
enemies and went home to be quiet, so we would forget about it.

Next comes the Russian style vote, and then the fence will
begin its construction.

I had wondered for several days, why Google was not sending the alerts for Russia news.

Google caught running paid advertisements for Hamas:
Internet surfers who enter the word "Hamas" in Arabic in the Google search engine, will view, in addition to the search results, an AdWord message that links directly to the website of the organization’s military faction Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

The link also appears in a search of several other words, such as the "Gaza," "Palestine," "Jihad."

This indicates that a Hamas source has paid Google, the most popular search engine on the web, for the advertisement.

...Company Spokeswoman Debbie Frost said "we took care of the matter as soon as Ynet turned to us," but Ynet has learned the advertisements have not been removed as of yet.

"US arms Coast Guard terror units"
Boston Globe ^ | March 27, 2005 | Charlie Savage

Posted on 03/27/2005 9:48:08 AM PST by Radix

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "COAST GUARD AIR STATION CAPE COD -- The United States is dramatically expanding its seacoast defenses by arming Coast Guard helicopters with machine guns, training security teams to rappel onto a hostile ship and take control of it through force, and deploying sensors, satellites, and surveillance cameras that feed new high-tech harbor command centers.

The buildup of maritime muscle, part of a comprehensive program detailed in the Department of Homeland Security's 2006 budget plan, stems from fears that, deterred by land and air defenses, terrorists may try to attack the nation by sea. Scenarios include smuggling in a nuclear bomb aboard a freighter or crashing an explosives-laden fast boat into a liquefied natural gas tanker, mimicking the 2000 USS Cole bombing."

watch how the usual suspects, who are afraid for their posting privejes dare even acknowledge my post..

Caleb, I'm really sorry your Dad is not here to post any longer. We will miss Indie a lot here. What A_D said is true. "If "the usual suspects" includes me, speaking for myself I know that if I post anything the mods feel is offensive, I will be gone as well. Some of the older posts have ended with comments such as "I'd be banned if I said what I really thought." That is because we know there is a line not to cross. Only the mods know when we've gone across that line, and if and when we do, we'll be in the same position as your Dad.

Happy Easter to you and your Dad, Caleb!

"U.S. stumbles in Mexico again"

MEXICO CITY --

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The Americans pressured much more at the start of the first half, and Eddie Lewis scored in the 59th minute off a feed from Landon Donovan. Some Mexican fans responded by chanting "Osama! Osama!''

To make matters worse for the Americans, DaMarcus Beasley received a yellow card in the 37th minute for a rough foul on Rafael Marquez. Because it was Beasley's second yellow of qualifying, he will be suspended for Wednesday's game against Guatemala at Birmingham, Ala."

SECOND MARINE DIVISION MARINES SEIZE ARMS CACHES, DETAIN SUSPECTED INSURGENTS

CAMP BLUE DIAMOND, Iraq – Coalition Forces from the 2nd Marine Division have detained a total of 147 suspected insurgents since taking the reins from 1st Marine Division on March 17.

Since the transfer of authority, Marines from the Camp Lejeune-based division have been working to help bring about peace in the restive Al Anbar Province by detaining individuals actively terrorizing innocent civilians.

“Over the past few months, 1st and 2d Division... have pursued and captured many terrorists attempting to prevent a free Iraq,” said Col. Bob Chase, chief operations officer for the 2d Marine Division. “These are criminals and murderers who display wanton disregard for their fellow Iraqis.”

Two Marine Regimental Combat Teams and one Army Brigade Combat Team that make up the division have also conducted numerous raids and operations over the last seven days netting:

- (14) mortar rounds of various sizes
- 120mm tank round
- Approx. (1,000) small arms rounds
- (66) rockets of various sizes
- (40) Small arms of various types, to include AK 47's, shotguns, pistols and machine guns
- Iraqi police and military uniforms
- IED making materials to include several pounds of explosives, cell phones, cell phone batteries, batteries, spools of wire and blasting caps
- Various types of insurgent propaganda, to include leaflets, posters, newsletters, and videos

“Tirelessly, our young Marines move through the countryside and deny the enemy solace, keeping him off-balance and under increasing pressure,” said Chase.

The raids and operations were conducted throughout the Al Anbar Province with the cooperation of the Iraqi Security Forces.

“Our main effort since our arrival in Al Anbar is to accelerate the training and partnering of the emerging Iraqi Security Forces,” explained Chase.

Chase stated that the ISF provide what they call “eyes and tongues” that allow US forces to discern foreign fighters and strangers. “Most importantly, they are able to interface with the locals and get information Iraqis might be unwilling to share with US personnel for fear of repercussions from the terrorists.”

Chase made clear that we would remain true to our promise to the Iraqi people; “We will stand with them until their forces are ready to stand alone and can protect themselves from those that fear a united Iraq.”

The 2d Marine Division, commanded by Maj. Gen. Richard A. Huck, will continue to work with the people of the Al Anbar Province in order to bring about peace and prosperity in Iraq.

All the battalions from the division have previously deployed in support of various operations around the globe to include, Afghanistan, Haiti, the Horn of Africa or here in Iraq.
