What do you mean "Bush's Suggestion"?
Sam F. Ghattas (AP/Washington Post):
Hizballah's leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah on Wednesday rejected a suggestion by President Bush that his militants disarm and enter the political mainstream.
Sometimes I think the President would communicate better if he spoke like the cowboy so many Idiots think he is. So let me try and translate the message into a language that maybe even Hassan Nasrallah can understand:
"Hassan, you can put down the guns and the dynamite and live, or you can be carried up to Boot Hill on a stiff board and have your carcass tossed in a shallow grave. That's a 'choice', not a 'suggestion'. So make up your mind, and make it up fast."
Counting on a 1980's response from the United States in a post-9/11 world is a mistake, something about which the Taliban could write volumes.

NEPAL: MAOIST THREAT IS SERIOUS
- 'royal coup' emboldens and empowers dangerous Maoist rebels
By Elizabeth Kendal
World Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission (WEA RLC)
Special to ASSIST News Service
AUSTRALIA (ANS) -- The Nepali Church has grown from 29 believers in 1959 to around 500,000 in 3,000 congregations today (Operation World). Whilst persecution in the Hindu Kingdom was intense through the 1980s, the religious freedom introduced in the 1990 Constitution led to improvements. However it is not full religious freedom as Article 19 includes 'no person shall be entitled to convert another person from one religion to another'. Church growth in Nepal testifies to the Holy Spirit's blessing of courageous, sacrificial witness and faithfulness. Militant Hindus still target Christians and social pressure remains intense. The Maoist insurgency that has ravaged Nepal for nine years adds to the suffering.
Nepal's Maoist rebels claim to be inspired by Chinese revolutionary leader Mao Zedong, while they model themselves on Peru's Shining Path (Maoist) guerrillas. They have up to 15,000 'hard-core' fighters and some 50,000 militiamen, as well as considerable support in rural areas. There, Nepal's impoverished, oppressed, low caste tribes, believing they have nothing to gain from the status quo, see the Communists as the only hope for a better life. The Maoists control around 40% of Nepalese territory. They are highly organised and are able to bring the capital city of Kathmandu to a standstill by enforcing strikes that paralyse the economy. They also kidnap school children for the purpose of Maoist 're- education' and enlistment into youth militias.
On 1 February 2005 King Gyanendra perpetrated a 'coup against democracy' when he dismissed the government, assumed executive power and declared a state of emergency. There have since been calls to suspend military aid to Nepal, which would however be to the rebels' advantage.
On 2 March, an official in the US State Department's South Asia bureau, Mr Donald Camp, told the House International Relations Committee the Maoists have made clear their intentions. They would impose a one-party 'people's republic', collectivise agriculture, 're-educate' class enemies (including all Christians) and export their Communist revolution to neighbouring states. He warned that King Gyanendra's undemocratic actions will only strengthen the resolve of the Maoist rebels. He is concerned there is a 'real possibility' that the rebels could seize power. 'The humanitarian ramifications of such a regime would be immense,' warned Mr Camp, 'reminiscent of the nightmare brought upon Cambodia by Pol Pot.' (Some 1.8 million Cambodians perished under Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge regime. The victims included 10,000 of Cambodia's 12,000 Christians who died in Pol Pot's 'Killing Fields' in the late 1970s.)
Peace talks constantly break down and the problems of entrenched poverty, disadvantage, caste discrimination, and lawlessness remain forever unresolved. Mr Yubraj Ghimire, editor of Nepal's Samay magazine, told the BBC that he believes 2005 could be a turning point if people overcame their 'apathy towards the future'. While the Maoists would seek to eliminate the church as an 'enemy' of Maoist ideology, the gospel of God's grace, abundant life and future hope clearly has a vital part to play in Nepal's healing.
PLEASE PRAY SPECIFICALLY FOR:
wisdom for world leaders considering how to respond to King Gyanendra's 'coup against democracy' without advantaging the Maoist rebels.
God to intervene to restore, unify and strengthen the government, and give it divine wisdom and direction to address the deep issues of poverty, suffering and hopelessness.
frustration of the plans of the threatening, destructive, godless Maoist rebel movement. (Psalm 146)
God to raise up godly, wise, diligent, effective peace mediators at all levels from both inside and outside Nepal, who will enable Nepal to plan and progress towards a comprehensive peace.
God to use the peace-makers, 'healers' and 'shepherds' in his Spirit-empowered Church in a way that will heal the nation and advance the gospel, to his glory.
'He [Jesus] felt great pity for the crowds that came, because their problems were so great and they didn't know where to go for help. They were like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, "The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send out more workers for his fields." 'Matthew 9:36-38
WE PRAISE AND THANK GOD for the amazing Church growth in Nepal over the past 50 years, and ask him to protect and use her as light and salt and a mustard seed and yeast. (Matthew 5:13).

Servicemembers hand out hundreds of shoes
Marine Sgt. Brian E. McElaney, The Horn Courier
Members of Camp Lemonier distributed 500 pairs of shoes to the those in need at an Afar refugee camp here, March 3.
The shoes were collected from the community at Sigonella Naval Air Station, Sicily by Dana Harris, wife of Petty Officer 1st Class Chad Harris, senior
technician with Explosive Ordinance Disposal Mobile Unit 8. Harris had heard about the need for donations from the chaplains office, but it hit home when
he started visiting the town.
[I] had been out driving around town and began noticing people without shoes, Harris explained. So I called my wife and asked her if she wanted to reach
out into the community and get a shoe drive together.
According to Mrs. Harris, donation boxes were placed at the Sigonella Chaplains office, EOD Mobile Unit 8, the Stephen Decatur School and Sigonellas Thrift
Store. She then began to throw up fliers and the donations began pouring in.
It was an immediate response, shoes and clothes came in every day, she said. We had a great turnout from people all around the community.
In addition to the shoes given at the Afar camp, 200 pairs of shoes, toys and clothes were donated to the local girls orphanage.
While Harris had seen or visited several impoverished areas over his five months with CJTF-HOA, he was still taken aback at the living conditions in the Afar
refugee camp, making the donation that much more of a special event for him.
Wed been out in the town and seen people we thought were poor, but Ive never seen anything like what I saw in the refugee camp
all those people had were the ragged clothes on their back, some had shoes, most didnt, he explained. So many people have things and all they want is more and more. These are people who really need.

"School Ban on Marine Corps T-Shirt Unconstitutional, Say Federal Judge"
By Jim Brown and Jody Brown
March 17, 2005
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(AgapePress) - A federal judge has ruled that an Indiana high school student has a constitutional right to wear a "Marine Corps Creed" T-shirt to school.
Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne had banned Nelson Griggs from wearing a T-shirt bearing the likeness of an M-16 rifle and a portion of a work entitled "My Rifle," also known as the "Marine Corps Creed." The words of that creed are widely accepted and quoted in the American military, law enforcement, and rifle sports communities as a statement of personal responsibility and rifle safety. But school district officials said the T-shirt violated the school's prohibition on "symbols of violence." Now U.S. District Judge Roger Cosbey has ruled the Marine T-shirt ban was unconstitutional."
