The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(1010 WINS) (EATONTOWN, N.J.) Investigators have found that the location of an underground gas line that exploded two weeks ago and destroyed a pet store, trapping five people in its rubble, was not properly marked.

First Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Robert Honecker Jr. said investigators could not find evidence of a marking for the three-quarter-inch gas line struck by a digging machine March 4. However, locations of other utility lines behind the Petco store here were clearly marked.

The explosion occurred within 10 to 15 minutes after the gas line was hit by construction workers, and caused the building to partially collapse with five people inside."

A Coup d´ Etat took place in Damascus late last night.
Intelligence reports coming from within the Syrian Military
Command indicate the following:

A rebellion split The Syrian Army in two factions.

Since yesterday , Damascus is under the de facto control of
the Syrian Army, under the command of Syrian Interior
Minister Ghazi Kanaan, and supported by Syrian
Intelligence General Rustom Ghazaleh, Syrian

military General Ali Safi, and Firas Tlass
son of former Minister of Defence, Mustafa Tlass. The group rebelled against the decision of President Bashar
el Assad to withdraw from Lebanon and seized the Damascus
military yesterday.

Around 3 am, Damascus time, the Syrian Air Force bombarded
two military airfields around Damascus, the

Katana. Also, late night around 3 am, the Syrian Air
force bombarded military positions of the Syrian
Army west of the city of Homs.

President Bachar el Assad retreated secretly to the city of
Aleppo where he is temporarily holding ground. He is
massing special forces troops loyal to him and
preparing himself to take back Damascus by force.

The Syrian President left in Damascus his brother in Law,
Syrian Military Intelligence Chief General Assef
Shawkat to negotiate a settlement with the
dissidents. The situation within the Syrian military was
very tense for a week and exploded yesterday. The dissident
group took control of Damascus as they were

very upset at the Lebanon withdrawal for they left behind a billion dollar industry.

It makes me angry that our gov't would try to keep this vital information from us.

MUSLIM MILITANTS ATTACK CHRISTIANS IN ADAMAWA STATE, NIGERIA

DEMSA, ADAMAWA STATE, NIGERIA (ANS) -- Muslim militants attacked the Christian community in Demsa, Adamawa state (northern Nigeria), killing 36 people, destroying property and displacing an additional 3000 people, on Friday, February 4, 2005. The Christian survivors took refuge in Mayolope village in Taraba state.

Ann Buwalda of Jubilee Campaign reports: "This is the second attack on Christians in Adamawa state; two years ago, the town of Numan experienced a religious crisis following the death of Pastor Esther Ethan Jinkai, who was killed by a Muslim fanatic. (Pictured: Christians fleeing Muslim violence in Adamawa. Courtesy: BBC via Jubilee Campaign).

"Nigeria has been plagued with religious violence since the implementation of Sharia law. Sharia was passed into law on January 27, 2000, and has been adopted in twelve states in northern Nigeria. In February and May 2000, the northern city of Kaduna experienced one of the worst conflicts in its history," Buwalda said.

In an e-mail to ASSIST News Service (ANS), she adds: "About 2,000 people were killed in clashes between Christians and Muslims over the adoption of Sharia. In Jos, Plateau state, fighting between Muslim cattle herders and Christian farmers resulted in the deaths of 1,000 people and the displacement of 258,000 others. It is estimated that over 10,000 people have died from religious violence since 1999 and 800,000 others have been internally displaced."

Buwalda said violence between the Christians and Muslims has become sadly customary to residents in certain regions of this African nation, especially since the imposition of Islamic law (Sharia) in a number of Nigeria's northern states.

Buwalda asks Christians to: "Please pray for all peace-loving Nigerians who have been unfairly caught in the crossfire of this struggle, and pray particularly that the Christian community would respond with love and creative nonviolence to attacks by Muslim extremists. Please also pray for peace and reconciliation in Nigeria."
