The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

STANSTED DEPORTEE ESCAPES Mar 14 2005


STANSTED Airport closed its runway last night after a man escaped while being deported.

He boarded a Ryanair flight to Milan but got off the plane at the back before take-off.

Police and airport security launched a full search. A helicopter was called in but the man was still missing last night.

An Stansted source said: "The guy just ran off the back of the plane and kept running. He disappeared without a trace." (snip)

Outbound from Singapore, the USS Carl Vinson is currently crossing the Indian Ocean headed towards Middle-East. This will be the first time since February 2004 that US will have three major carrier groups stationed on and around Middle East.

Don't get too wrapped up in this article. I saw it yesterday and it doesn't look like what they are saying - yet. The Navy does have the capability to surge, but it doesn't appear to be happening. The Vinson is already scheduled to be in the persian gulf area. We've had at least two in the region since gulf 2.

NY Prosecutors Arrest 18 Suspected Arms Traffickers


Mar 15, 2005 — NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York prosecutors said on Tuesday 18 people have been arrested on charges of trafficking in arms from Russia, including rocket-propelled grenades and shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles.

"The arrests resulted from a year-long wiretap investigation that utilized a confidential informant posing as an arms trafficker selling weapons to terrorists," the U.S. Attorney's office said in a statement. (snip)

A co-worker tells me that the Peacock Shopping Plaza in South Riding in Loudoun Country is surrounded by police and they are evacuating the shopping center. This was reported by his wife.

This is all we know at this time. Does anyone else have any further information. If we get any more information I will post it.

Thanks. I've seen nothing on IPN about it either. I was going to buy a scanner the other day. I wish I had now.

I don't think what's going on at the shopping center is related to the anthrax. Wish I had more info.

Been catching up on the anthrax, seems it's spread to 3 other buildings. I'm not too worried about the anthrax, just what's next.
