JAMES CITY -- An 8-year-old boy was taken from Rawls Byrd Elementary School in handcuffs Tuesday after he lost his temper, began overturning desks and throwing chairs, head-butted his teacher, kicked an assistant principal, threatened to bite her and finally kicked a police officer in the head, a police spokesman said.
The boy was charged with disorderly conduct and assault and battery, said Maj. Stan Stout.

He was just expressing himself.
Should have Tazered the little bugger... well, at least pepper sprayed him.. Sicked the K-9 on him...
That's putting it mildly and kindly. This one is headed for serious problems. Unless someone can get to the root, he will do worse next time.
Good one.......gee I wonder what his parents are like, I guess the apple wouldn't fall far from the tree. With this kind of behavior...the 8 yr old better get used to those bars........just my opinion.
That kind of behavior in my home when I was a kid got you something you didn't want. Very swiftly.
The little dear is desperately crying out that his bottom needs to be vigorously warmed.
I wonder if they asked to keep the hand-cuffs?
This sort of situation with the kid makes me wonder - was the kid off the medications he normally takes, or was he on some sort of special school-administered medications?
Sounds to me like he needed a spanking six years ago.
James City needs a height reqirement of over 3'-6" for their police officers.
Indeed, spanking would be a much more appropriate response.
If you had worked in the schools the last eight years, especially substituting in Sped. ED. rooms, you would not be surprised in the least by this kids behavior. I do not know of a single school building that does not have at least one of these ticking time-bombs.
If children know there will be no punishment, why will they have any reason to behave and how will they act when they grow up. Our U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of no Death Penalty this week using the United Nations Constitution and thoughts from Europe. Don't take this wrong, I don't wish the Death Penalty on anyone especially this young boy. If there is no fear of punishment of any kind some people young and old will do anything.
Impulse control. Put the kid on Thorazine and keep him in a coma until he is 21. Then he spends the rest of his life as "disabled" and never makes even the least contribution to society.
There is a tremendous amount of frustration that builds up in some of the kids in public schools, especially young boys who are frequently targeted by teachers who expect girls and boys alike to sit still hour after hour, day after day.
Christina Hoff Sommers wrote a compelling book entitled "The WAR AGAINST BOYS: How Misguided Feminism Is Harming Our Young Men."
At least he's not lacking self-esteem.
He's only eight-years-old; he's probably never even heard of the death penalty. He just needed a spanking, not an arrest.
Wait, you were kidding, right?
By the time a kid reaches 8 years old they have 80% of all the intelligence they will ever have. The other 20% is learned over time.
No, no, no...can't spank the little darlings...but we CAN have them arrested.
