Thanks for the ping!
My first response was "Unbelievable!"
But sadly, it IS believable! The Dems DO NOT support our troops or the success of our COUNTRY.
The WMD argument is the only one they feel they have the upper hand on. If we had found the enormous stockpiles of WMD and the domino cascade of freedom had never made signs of occuring, they'd have focused on that element for war.
As for me WMD's were never high on my list for supporting the war. What we see unfolding in the M.E. today is what justified my support for the war. It was only a hope then, now it is coming true.
The Stewart/Soderberg conversation is fascinating. Usually Dems don't hold these conversations in public. We had a rare glimpse into what is being said behind the scenes among Democrats from top to bottom.
'But as an American . . .'
We hardly ever watch Comedy Central's "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart," but our TV happened to be tuned to it last night when erstwhile Clinton aide Nancy Soderberg, author of "The Superpower Myth: The Use and Misuse of American Might" (foreword by Bill Clinton, blurb by Madeleine Albright) came on. We're not sure what possessed us to turn on the sound and watch, but we're glad we did, for it was a fascinating interview. Here's a TiVo-assisted transcript of most of it:
You beat me to it. Best of the Web (James Taranto) is really a great read, isn't it?
So, you took that as a joke?
Nothing at all surprising about a Democrat rooting for the ENEMY in a time of war!!
Ditto. I even posted about it here on FR prior to the invasion. WMDs were IMO a minor ruse to get the UN off its duff, and I thought so and said so at the time.
I also recall positing that even if democracy didn't stick, there would be enough chaos in the Middle East to keep the jihadis and their supporters occupied for some time.
Not all Democrats. However, the Neo-American Democrat certainly fit that description.
Reporter Ellen Ratner expressed the same views. She wanted things to go badly because it would damage the President.
OMG
If a republican had said this in opposite circumstances, they'd be hung and quartered!
If this be not treason, there is no longer such a thing. This is "spilling the beans."
This needs to be kept in the 'atmosphere" . Do not let it slip under the rug.
This is a "What are the Democrats really about?"
Every single American needs to hear this and digest it. Many of us have known for decades that the Dems would sink the country, the economy, everything, to be in power. It is not America they care about - only power.
But this is one of the clearest, unequivocal statements that let's the cat out of the bag.
SHOUT it - send it everywhere , Keep yelling to Rush/Humes/Gibson/Fox & Friends/etc to keep it on the front burner...( ask how this supports the troops) - print it out, and save it for use in 2206 - 2008 etc.
We must not let this statement get lost...(I'd like to see them running under that banner!)
Anything was better than failed procedures being exercised again. Appeasement, isolation, tolerance, bribes....lesser of two evils. All failed.
People have stated if this hadn't worked the way it is currently, it would have been a failure for G.W. That mindset is what keeps us stuck in failed policy with people too afraid to risk something new. True failure is repeating what you know will lead to failure. At least G.W.'s proposition was different. If it had failed, we try again until we find something that works.
Exactly - we need to let them know how many NEW members they AREN'T going to get!. I threw their mail away yesterday - gonna dig it out and reply: "Take me off you mailing list. I am not now, nor ever will be, interested in joining your elitist, self-serving organization."
HAH! Thank you Captain Obvious! This fact ought to warm the cockles of Micheal Moore's tiny little heart.
It is amazing how these hate filled rats continue out themselves as the anti Americans of this decade.
"As a Democrat, you don't want anything nice to happen to the Republicans, and you don't want them to have progress," Soderberg observed, before quickly adding, "But as an American, you hope good things would happen."
But Soderberg quickly undermined her own caveat, further suggesting that the more success America has in defeating global terrorism, the worse it is for Democrats.
After noting that the U.S.'s stunning foreign policy success followed the toppling of one of the three members of the axis of evil, Soderberg offered:
"Well, there's still Iran and North Korea, don't forget. There's still hope for the rest of us ... There's always hope that this might not work."
Ha! A rare moment of honesty, but we knew about it.
