To: Fred Nerks

Ten million is far and above what would be asked even in a case as evil as this. Even at half that, 5 mil bail would be considered excessive. If they are worried about flight-they would just remand. I asked a NYPD friend (former JCPD) of mine why the high bail for 'druggies' and he said the JCPD and the Prosec. office is doing all they can to keep these guys in custody because they wouldn't "last 10 seconds on the outside". This is not the threat of an enraged populace. The perps are also asking to be kept in protective custody, and apparently not just because two of the victims are children.

There is more here than anyone wishes to admit to
