RBC, 04.03.2005, Moscow 17:20:02.On March 18, 2005, Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a working visit to France on invitation of his French counterpart Jacques Chirac, the press service of the Russian head of state has reported. In the course of the visit, Putin will take part in a meeting between Chirac, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.
I would suggest American British Italian - Polish Ukrainian summit. Why not?
Having to spend time with Chirac could be considered a punishment. Quoting Yushchenko (from the context of a former minister's suicide), "he sentenced himself". Thus, may it (the proposed meeting) last long and happen more often!
And what it has to do with my comment?
The meeting is being held now so that they can all coordinate their anti-US positions after they played nice for the American media during the visit from Bush. Next, the American media will keep the anti-American policy affects that result from the meeting off of the front page stories and when Bush reacts to those affects the entire story will be about the hypocrite Bush going back on the collegial atmosphere he said he wanted during his visit. Nothing new. France has never been a true ally of the US; not even during the revolution. An immediate upcoming danger we have from France is that they want to get their hooks into a settlement in Lebanon. They want to use a Lebanon under their assistance to help Asaad hang onto power in Syria. Our position is to get in and train the Lebanese army as we are in Iraq and keep a true, and active, opposition to Syria working in Lebanon. France wants to stifle that opposition in the name of peace and stability - which simply means French, Russian and German money and contracts.
Sounds like he's brushing up on his socialism.
