I actually would like to own the new Ford Escape Hybrid; I really dig the hybrid cars out there now.
The problem is that my Pontiac Aztek cost 14,000 dollars, and the Ford Escape Hybrid costs $26,500 bare naked.
As much as I'd like to own a hybrid vehicle (especially an SUV) here in the midwest, I can't afford to pay double or more for a car just because it's a hybrid.
And wait six months on a wait list for one.
Much more expensive (and less value) and a very long lead time.
Pontiac Aztec? That car is a stylish as a 1961 Plymouth Valiant. A few months ago, someone here posted a vanity about the world's ugliest cars. The Aztec was in the top 10%.
They'd have to pay me to take one of those mutts off their hands. Was the entire decision-chain at Pontiac high that year?
