US Has Not Backed Down on Pro-Life Stance at UN Meeting

(CNSNews.com) - Notwithstanding inaccurate reports in major media, the U.S. delegation at the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) meeting in New York has not dropped a contentious proposal to make clear that a key document on women's equality does not uphold a "right" to abortion.

Spokesman for the U.S. Mission to the U.N., Richard Grenell, told CNSNews.com mid-afternoon Thursday New York time that the reports were wrong.

"The situation is we have not decided what to do, and we are in discussions at the moment," Grenell said.

The U.S. delegation earlier called for the draft of a brief statement reaffirming a platform of action agreed upon at a major women's conference in Beijing in 1995 to include a phrase clarifying that the platform did not include any new rights and did not include "the right to abortion."

Sigh.
If ONLY the folks who could afford the multiple children WOULD have multiple children and those who couldn't, wouldn't.
Won't happen.

Meanwhile, relative morality rules.

What does that have to do with topic of the article: people killing their children under the protection of government?

Who asked you anyway?

It's an open forum bulletin board. Debate goes on here all the time. You should probably avoid political discussions while you are off your medicine.

(psstt...abortion discussions are about killing or not killing innocent babies...what people can or can't afford remains irrelevant to that topic.)

Pssst. I know that. And if YOU think affording is irrelevant to the topic then good for you. Ya wanna cookie? It actually ISN'T to many, many people. That really isn't irrelevant to the discussion.

Another "psst": affording children and abortion DON'T go hand in hand.

Yet another "psst": the U.N. could offer blanket birth control.
Then, final "psssst": abortion, FOR THE MOST PART (I hope you got that bit of prose so you don't need yet another "psst.") wouldn't be necessary.

Ad hominum attacks like yours aren't really necessary or wanted on this site. You simply show your upbringing, character and manners...or lack of them.

the U.N. could offer blanket birth control.

That wouldn't solve anything. The advent of easy (but never 100% effective) birth control, and the inevitable unrestricted sex-as-entertainment culture both in this country and worldwide, created the horrors of abortion culture as it stands today.

two things will solve the global abortion problem:

(1) teaching of the importance of morality and abstinence to children and adolescents

(2) making it illegal to kill unborn babies once again.

The solution to overpopulation is economic security. The way to create economic security is through a global acceptance of the free-market principals that create wealth and prosperity wherever they are implemented.

The U.N. consistently gets it wrong.

The U.N. has been passing out condoms right and left, but A.I.D.S. is rapidly spreading, especially in Africa.

Condoms give promiscuous people a false sense of security.

Uganda had far less A.I.D.S. compared with other countries in Africa, when the focus was on monogamy and abstinece.

Just maybe, there's a lesson to be learned here.

Bingo on all points. It's about promiscuity, prostitution and adultery--values of a culture or group of people.
Add the sad fact of babies born with AIDS and you have a catastrophe.

The AIDS viurs isn't going away. A more virulent strain has already developed in New York City (homosexual male) and it is resistant to every drug made.
The virus will continue to spread among those who are at risk. That's a no-brainer which the U.N. and all nations' governments and health organizations choose to ignore. They simply WON'T touch the core of the problem--values regarding prostitution, promiscuity and adultery.

God takes care of all of his children. Procreation should not be prevented or stopped. The rich and the educated who go on the premise that the earth is over populated are mistaken for sure.

God does take care of His children.
You are free to propound your opinions of procreation, but people DO have free choice. That is one of the two ways we are like God. They will always have the choice...and GOD judges them. HE is their judge, no one else.

God gives us free will and the way we choose isn't always right.

Your choice is wrong.

Read your bible.

Sooooo... you're alright letting people kill their babies as long as they're poor? You're alright with makeing abortion illegal for "rich" people, then right?

Meanwhile, relative morality rules.

We wish. You consider 1.5 million babies butchered each year "relative morality." I consider it GROSS depravity of a magnitude not often witnessed on planet earth.

Where did I write that? I didn't and you know it. I wonder why you do that...no I don't wonder at all. You simply can't read.
Birth control for the poor, I think, is a good idea. Abortion? Nope. But then, you will NO DOUBT, misinterpret THIS too. Lacunas abound.
