WAS Hunter S. Thompson's mysterious death really a suicide? There are some serious irregularities surrounding the demise of the gonzo author, who was found shot to death in the kitchen of his Woody Creek, Colo., ranch on Feb. 20, and local cops seemed to have done a lackluster job of investigating. Police reports obtained by the Rocky Mountain News note that cops arriving on the scene heard shots being fired, that Thompson's son, Juan, was allowed to be alone with the body, and that there was something odd about the gun Thompson supposedly used to kill himself. Before his death, Thompson seemed in good spirits and was not known to be depressed. And considering his long-winded style, the absence of a note seems strange he'd typed only the single word "counselor." There were no eyewitnesses to the shooting, only an "earwitness" Thompson's wife, Anita, who was on the phone with him at the time and who later drank scotch with the corpse. Her account of the incident is inconsistent: She alternately has said that she heard a loud, muffled noise and that she heard nothing but clicking.

I thought it odd, when I read the account. However, I had chalked it up to the whole family being weird.
Wouldn't be the worst I've ever heard...
As Canada's Globe and Mail reported, Thompson had "stumbled across what he felt was hard evidence showing the towers had been brought down not by the airplanes that flew into them but by explosive charges set off in their foundations."
Ah! I didn't know he had been linked to that story.
I just thought he might have been killed by someone he irritated unbearably.
Posting the rest of the item downthread is a no-no too.
It is so obvious that Karl Rove was behind this from the beginning.
Regardless of his finding this supposed evidence, what would that have to do with his death? Apparently Juan was there and would be the prime suspect if it turned out to be murder. Was his son trying to keep him from revealing this so-called evidence? That makes no sense.
/sarcasm
In an interview the wife gave, she stated she was in the restroom of the club she was working out in and she supposedly told her he had killed himself. This was apparently right after he called her.
How could a stranger have heard it that quick?
I caught that right away, and I can't believe it wasn't brought up.
The wife and the son planned it?
Why was he trying to get her to go into his father's office, and why did she get upset and leave to go work-out? That made no sense.
Oh, For Crying Out Loud! Only about a Billion people saw those towers pancaking on Live TV. Go to the videotape. The lower floors stay still until the upper floors fall down on them. That is inconsistent with explosive charges set off in the foundations, which would have brought down the whole buildings as a block.
I guess one could argue that there may have been demolition charges on the impact floors, but how in the World would that have been accomplished? Could they possibly fantasize that the impact of the jetliners could be arranged with that precision in each building?
Remember, boys, it's Shiny Side Out!!!
Hard to believe that someone would muster up the energy to cook up a conspiracy to kill someone who had sunk to this level of irrelevancy.
Bingo!!!
I was thinking the same thing. Thompson's 15 minutes were up years ago.
The worst refuse to go away and leave us alone.
Except, you know, because of the 'controversy' all the young skulls full of mush who don't really know who he was will go out and buy up books. Cha-ching for the family. Maybe there will be a TV movie about it.
Thompson's young, blonde, attractive wife is 32. How old is Thompson's son, Juan, who was in the house while the wife was at the health club?
