We Are Family Video To Be Delivered To 61,000 Elementary Schools March 11
WAFF pulls information from web site following AFA article
If you have children or grandchildren in elementary school, you need to know about a new video being sent to 61,000 elementary schools. The We Are Family video will be delivered on March 11. It is produced by the We Are Family Foundation (WAFF), a pro-homosexual organization. Homosexual organizations have long used the schools to promote homosexuality.
When AFA alerted supporters about the video in our January AFA Journal, WAFF threatened to sue AFA for exposing the pro-homosexual content on WAFFs Web site. WAFF attorneys threatened to sue us unless we recanted our statements, removed the article from our Web site, and issue an apology to WAFF. We refused. Thus far, WAFF has not sued AFA, primarily because they had no cause.
The AFA Journal article focused on a video project involving the 1970s hit song, We Are Family, co-written by WAFFs founder, Nile Rodgers. The video features over 100 characters from childrens television. A teachers guide will accompany the DVD to encourage discussions after children view We Are Family. The video will also air over the Disney Channel, PBS and Nickelodeon on March 11.
Under the guise of promoting tolerance for other categories such as race, gender, age, disabilities, etc., the WAFF Web site openly promoted homosexuality as a normative lifestyle. There was a Tolerance Pledge that encouraged signers to pledge respect for homosexuality, and work against ignorance, insensitivity and bigotry.
While everyone should promote tolerance, a promotion of homosexuality should not be thrust on little children and unexpecting parents. It is absolutely wrong for schools to be used to promote the homosexual lifestyle.
While there is nothing questionable in the video itself, the site included a teachers guide to use with the children to discuss the video that aggressively normalized same-gender attraction and same-sex marriage. There was also a recommended reading list for children and adults that included such illustrated childrens books as the lesbian tome, Heather Has Two Mommies, which discusses artificial insemination, and Daddys Roommate, which included an illustration of two men in bed together.
he WAFF Web site ran a list of allies that virtually ran the gamut of homosexual advocacy groups: Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation; Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network; Human Rights Campaign; National Gay and Lesbian Task Force; and Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians & Gays.
Following publication of the AFA article, the controversial materials on the WAFF Web site were immediately removed from public access. The only exception was the tolerance pledge, which was altered from its original format. Evidently WAFF did not want parents to know what was on their site and in the teachers guide.
A good school system will always work with parents, not against them. We encourage parents to find out what, if anything, will be going on in their schools in connection with the We Are Family video.
AFA is recommending that parents take the following simple steps always ensuring that communications with school officials be conducted in a polite and civilized manner:
If you are concerned, here are things to do:
1. Ask another parent or a small number of parents to join you. Contact your schools principal. Ask him or her if they plan to show the We Are Family DVD at school.
2. Ask if the teachers guide will be used in facilitating any discussion, and ask for the opportunity to review the teachers guide.
3. Ask very specifically if the subject of homosexuality will be brought up by teachers or discussed if brought up by a student.
4. If the school assures you that homosexuality will not be discussed, thank them politely. If you are informed that homosexuality will or may be discussed, ask for permission to sit in on the discussion. Invite other parents to attend with you. A good school will welcome involvement of parents.
Should you have problems with your school, or if you would simply like to tell us about your experience in dealing with this issue, e-mail us at contact@afa.net.

That is EXACTLY what I was told by my children's public school when I (reluctantly) had to enroll them in GA after a "Christian" school rejected my son. (He had been successful in a Christian school in CA, so there was NO reason for this.)
It was wonderful to hear that, and the school has absolutely followed through on it. I called the Principal several weeks ago about this video, and she hadn't heard about it, but she sent out a memo stating that this would be an "opt-in" activity requiring parental permission if any of the teachers wanted to use it.
I doubt any did, since they are heavy on reading, writing, math, and science in the school.
Prepare for some porn, but go ahead. Make sure it's a private computer.
Wisconsin Public Television plans to target homosexual show at young children.

Now wait a minute----- the lady writing these books that are warning parents and children of the gay agenda is herself gay? That doesn't make sense. Please explain how a lesbian can actually be on OUR side (sort of).
Hmmm, back when I was school, we learned about arithmetic, and writing, and reading, and geography, and history, and P.E. This is really, really weird. It was the parents' job to teach their child how to act toward people that are different. And at school, bullies and others who called kids names were sent to the principal's office and spanked.
Those were the good old days...
Tammy Bruce is a commentator for FNC also.
She has seen what the RADICAL gay agenda is up to and is not happy and thinks it's dangerous...especially to our kids.
I know a gay person who is totally opposed to gay marriage AND adoption of kids by gays.
Options are not limited for the upper grades. By the time high school rolls around, many homeschoolers are taking courses at their local community colleges. Also, "hybrid" or "cottage" schools are appearing. Classes are taught by people who have an interest in the particular subject and can teach it. Homeschoolers choose the class or classes they want to take.
Of course, internet classes are popular too.
You can get a good education without ever stepping foot into a private or public school today.
BTTT because my computer is being overtaken by a 5 year old munchkin today!!!!
LOL, I meant Patrick. My bad!

Don't play on the enemy's own field.
The thing to do is pass the word for a giagantic kids' sick-in the day the video is shown.
Then start putting together a slate of school board candidates from the roster of fed-up parents.
Forget the pie-in-the-sky recommendations in the article from well-intentioned but inexperienced folks. Freepers know better how to deal effectively and systematically with this crappola.

I'm going to have to leave that enjoyable task to someone else. Yuk.
Exactly right! That has been my experience as well.
This is awful propaganda. I can't believe this garbage is coming into our schools.
Hi, Gidg and Peach!
Thanks for that insight on the more conservative-type homosexual. I didn't know there really was such a person. I must say tho' that I don't really understand it. Are they against the recruitment (otherwise known as "education") of children by our school systems? Are they against same-sex marriage? I can understand their realization that adoptions shouldn't be allowed by same-sex couples--- that's just common sense. But are they against these other things? How can they be against the advancement of their own lifestyle (that is, homosexuality).
Whatever the answers to these questions may be, I sure wish the homosexuals I knew were as smart as Ms. Bruce. I wonder if I should read her book.
